Our '93 Suburban with non-tinted windows is like riding in an aquarium. Huge windows. Great visibility. On the other hand, our 2013 Impala has HORRIBLE visibility. The pillars on each side of the windshield are very thick. You frequently can't see cars coming from the side streets. Huge blind spots.

What made it surreal is the car turned right into me... could not have done a better job had he been gunning for me.

I need to make a diagram because the crosswalk would be much safer if it was moved slightly.

The side street left turn drivers cross two lanes of traffic, a dedicated turn lane before making their left turn... problem is they all look right for on coming traffic just before actually turning left...

Had the crosswalk been on the right side first no left turn driver would turn into the crosswalk and the driver is already looking right and would see someone in the crosswalk...

The MRI tech offered me a free foot MRI... I declined for now.

Best I can figure is when the bumper hit left sides of my leg the force rolled my foot.

Had the driver been reckless... I would be all over him.

It seems to be just a bad combination of factors.

Feel very lucky... especially since he stopped accelerating.

I had visions of being run over in that instance and it all happened so fast.

The last thing I would have thought about getting out of bed this morning was getting hit in a crosswalk...

Been crossing at the same crosswalk since 1995...

We exchanged information... not planing on going any further.

You should've called the police. He violated the law by not reporting an accident especially with injuries. You should go to the Station for where it happened and report it now. We had a saying, if it isn't reported, it didn't happen. He should also have been ticketed.

Stop making excuses for a man who hit you with a car!

Guess it is a character flaw I have... I am very good being an advocate for others... not so much for myself.

Sometimes accidents are just accidents.

Spending the last 23 years in a hospital working has opened my eyes to just how many low-life scammers there really are when money is involved... some are just looking for a payday.

Always figured what comes around goes around...

Sorry, I should have led with "I'm glad you're OK". Having spent my career investigating crashes, many fatal, I can't excuse the carelessness and indifference in mankind. You should still report it. City cops may be different but here in the country we get incensed by someone like this who is careless and then leaves you on the side of the road. Smoke is still coming out my ears. 5 pages of replies and no one else is concerned that the law was broken and he's avoiding responsibility. Get the MRI, seek physical therapy; his insurance will foot the bill (pun intended). I don't like ambulance chasing lawyers, but when a man ruptured a disc in my back I consulted with a WC lawyer and sued the SOB. It wasn't for the $$$, cuz no amount will fix my back. I used the $$$ to assist someone who had a medical prob not her fault and didn't have the $$$ to pay for it.

Maybe that's how it "comes around goes around... "

The orthopedic surgeon looked me over today and confirmed my assessment... nothing broken and will simply take time to heal...

I'm spoiled in that the medical system is something I find personally frustrating if I go through regular channels and believe me... I understand why so many just give up and go to the ER for everything.

I wanted to have a physical before years end... called my Doc 14 weeks ahead of time and not one slot till mid January with 11 people on the wait list...

On the other hand... I work with premier surgeons and if they see me with a limp they are on it...

Remember a few years ago when Mom's back went out to the point she could barely crawl to the bathroom... she is very active and then bedridden.

Got her to her Doctor who ordered an MRI... at work, one of the Pain Docs asked how Mom was and I said not good... she just had an MRI this morning and is basically immobile... he asked where she had it done and a minute later called his office and told them to get a copy of the report and went off to surgery...

He called me about 2 hours later and said he reviewed the findings and said he could help her and if she was up to it... she should be here at the Hospital at 6 am in the morning and we did just that... really helped her a lot.

Three days later, her Doctor calls the house and says he has reviewed the data and is going to refer her to the Doc that did her procedure... told him he had already seen and treated her 2 days ago...

Sadly, it's seems it's a more who you know these days...

My Jeep Commander has large blind spots. I am constantly moving my head side to side to see around the pillars when I'm turning. Glad you're ok.

You still need to get it looked at just to document any injuries that may pop up down the road from this. Doesn't mean you have to sue the guy. You just need to get it documented for your own protection.
