Hitting all the common BX problems

That's where mine seems to be leaking. I called the dealer about it and what he told me was that the fuel sending unit has sealing problems. When its in the shop I will also ask about the air breather bracket. Mine is out on warranty next month.

The early BXs leak fuel down onto the left tire when full. The dealer has some type of fix. I think it's coming out around the fuel level sending unit. Fixed under warranty for me.

Same here! It did seem to leak more when really full, too.

I think kubota is a fine machine but again I think all tractors are good it's simply a matter of individual choice. This being said I cant help but wonder if kubota thinks that they built a good reputation over the years in building fine tractors and that they can somehow afford these little problems. Maybe I missed something here but should there be nothing less than a recall to fix these problem. cag

Agreed, would be nice if they just stepped-up and fixed all the known problems at once without multiple trips back to the dealer. BTW - The new air filter bracket is much sturdier than the original. Have not tried out the tractor to see if they got the HST pedal working right, sure seemed tight to me just putting the machine into the garage right from the truck. I'm guessing cleaning the pivot is not enough to fix this problem.

Now that I'm closing in on 300 hours, I'm just waiting for the steering to go... don't know if I have one of the 'rusty tubes' or not.

on the hst pedal, did they put in new cradle bearings, that is what they had to do to mine to fix it........with only 25 hours on it.

My throttle on the Gravely wouldn't stay at full. I fixed this by using one of those exercise straps in a loop like a rubber band to keep it fully open. It's easy enough to remove the loop to go down to idle.

Tried rubber bands initially. They kept breaking. My exercise strap loop hasn't broken yet.

Ralph...... when are you going to retire that dinosaur Gravely and get the BX that you have been lusting for? If you wait too long, the BX is going to be like your Gravely, no longer made and everyone here will be talking about the next generation of Kubota's. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mine leaked also from the sending unit. Mine was out of warranty, so I fixed myself. Kubota has a kit # K2561-96140 that replaces some of the parts on the sending unit. Basically, the old unit just set on a seal into a hole into the top of the tank. I don't know what engineer designed this, but obviously it was very poor design. The new kit comes with locking tabs on the attaching bolts that grip to the inside of the tank to seal it against the rubber seal. You remove the ROPS and left fender. The new locking tabs have a flat blad screw head that you turn to lock them with. I think two of these were under the ROPS mounting plate and tough to get to. Definitely allot yourself some time to complete the job.
Kit cost me $16.65.

I just don't understand why this wouldn't be repaired under a "extended" warranty situation because there is a liability issue here. Leaking fuel is definitely a responsibility of Kubota to repair if it is a result of a design failure. I understand that a manufacturer doesn't have a responsibility to make upgrades to older equipment just to make it better, but if it is a defect that effects safety or or environmental issues, I believe that they are responsible for those corrections. I know that they certainly would be if it was an automobile.
