I have a JD 3038e with a front-end loaded and have pulled 12" diameter 50' long hardwood [sweet gum, oak, ash] with the TPH lifting log 6" off of ground, without a problem on level to light slope ground.
Keep it in 4 wheel drive and use low range during the pull. The partial weight of the log on the rear adds to traction, while keeping it low eliminates overturn and leaves part of the load on the ground.
