There has been articles in the news lately about wild hogs causing problems in parts of the country, the same for deer in the north east.

Hey Jlsmith: If you are serious, I have a crew of good hunters, WV and Western MD mountaineers, that are pretty good shots and might be interested in making a trip to Texas. I can tell you this, yall put us on hogs and we'll lay'em down for you. We'll bring a generator and a freezer and haul'em back home. Any motels close to you?

Spain makes ham from wild pigs and it is very expensive. It would be VERY funny if they are taking hogs from the US and selling it as Spanish raised wild hog ham. :D

Later,
Dan

The place in Spain where they make very expensive ham from wild hogs has to do with the nuts that they eat from a specific area, I believe.

There needs to be processing plants for feral hogs. They would be a great source of protein, maybe made into some sort of processed food. Then offer a bounty on them with no limit, no season.

There is a place in New Summerfield, pretty close to you, that is buying them by the pound. They are a drop off point. They pay you and then a truck comes by each week and takes the hogs to Ft. Worth for processing and shipping to Europe for fine dining.

I guess I didn't know any better, but I have killed about 40 hogs with my .223 AR, and a couple with my 9mm pistol, and 5 with my .22 rifle (close range, high between the eyes). With the .223, about half dropped with one shot, the others ran about 40 yards before dropping. Most of those shots were at about 40-50 yards, mostly in light to thick brush.

I've hunted them for close to 30 years by various methods. I've hunted a lot on the ground with a bow, and also with a gun and from tree stands. I've seen some pretty big ones in the woods, but never have been charged or attacked. When I was in my 20's I had one just out of sight in the bushes grunting and making noises... It was near dark and I was on the ground with a compound bow. I was trying to lure it out by sounding like a pig. It did not work, and I never got a shot on that one. I still remember the excitement though!
