Bill,

The said it weights 1,100 pounds, but after seeing the show on Hogzilla and knowing it was 800 pounds, I kind of have my doubts. What I really like is that they hung it up in a tree in there front yard.

Can you say REDNECK? hahahahaha

What's the matter Eddie? Don't you have a tree that big in your yard?

It'll be hard to scrape hanging that high.

Eddie,

Another Hogzilla story  , but I don't think this one's any bigger than the one Stephanie shot. What do you think?

Eddie - I think this one was killed this week (Jan 2007).

"the Department of Natural Resources is trying to determine if the pig shot in Fayette County this week is a state record."

Here's the AP story: My Way News - Man Kills 1,100-Pound Hog in North Ga.

I am about 45 miles from the original Hogzilla, the Abany paper had a write up and picture over a year ago.The picture showed the hog hanging from a backhoe, every one around was in disbelief such an animal could be this big. Most hogs near here are the mixed bred that are at the largest @300 to 400+ pounds on a good day! After the story came out the tale around here was that the hog was measured and then buried and was getting larger everyday. With the warm temps and swelling it was larger but this caused it to get shorter!!! When it was dug up it had collapsed to the smaller size. All in good fun for a good story. You have to admit , it was a good hog. Now then, the saying around here is how Texas always claims to do and have everything bigger, even the tales, so come on Texas , top this.

Bill,

I wasn't very clear. I was comparing the two. The pictures of the original Hogzilla and this one. In my opinion, I don't think this one is as big as the one they did the show about on the National Geographic Channel, and they figured he was in the 800 pound range. Just guessing, I'm thinking this one is half the size of that one.

He's a monster of a hog, no doubt about it, but in the article, they claim this one hanging from the tree is 1,100 pounds, and I don't believe that at all. A full grown, bull elk isn't that big, and I don't think this guy is even close to the size of an elk.

I may have seen one hog in my life that would be close to 400 pounds out in the wild, but most are not near as heavy as most people think they are. Hog hunters might be the only group of hunters who make fisherman seem accurate in the size of the one that got away. :D :D :D

Eddie,
I see we have something in common. My husband just burried a wild pig this week. I can't think of the name of the product. When you cut a limb off of a tree you have to paint this product on the wound from wehre you cut.

Anyway we are doing so much cutting we jsut left the approx 3 gallon container of the tre wound pruduct up on the terrace. Wellt eh wild pigs got in it and we figure it must have killed one.

France is about the same size as Texas. It has, I think like 92 Departments, which I think are similar to Counties. My brother in law who is a hunter said that in one department alone hunters killed 10,000 wild pigs.

They are all over europe, in the woods in my old country - czech republic :D - i met them quite few times. Always scared me, especially when there were those stripped colored piglets.
