Why someone wouldnt buy from a dealer
Deere will reach (or continue to reach since they made the Scotts mowers previously) a much broader market at Home Depot in comparison to their dealer network. The reason is the dealers themselves - some of them stink. If you are budget conscious and want a simple riding mower, you will feel like a second-class citizen in a deere dealership. They certainly know what they are talking about, and have the service department, but they will be talking to you about a $3500 LX in no time. Contrast Home Depot, where you can happily plunk down $2 grand and load up your little baby deere with the help of a clueless teenager. I have an LT, and if I were buying today, I would get the L series. More features, great prices, and adequate build quality for suburban mowing etc. I often wonder if the dealer network will shift away from lawn and garden completely, focusing on series grounds care equipment, up through the Ag line. Makes more sense to me.... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
