You wouldn't know it by listening to the anti-self defense and anti-gun types though.
They are selectively ignorant in thier statements and propeganda.

The political activism wing is the NRA-Institute for legislative action.
The ILA is not exempt as an organization. The NRA is.

Just remember that the Supreme court ruled that it was constitutional to round up americans and put them into concentration camps back in the 40's, and your 2A rights as enumerated are null and void in several states.
Rights only exist as long as people will fight to maintain them.

:cool2:The NRA does good things as far as training but as far as the late 1940's go.
Back in 2006 we had to attend one of those voluntary / you better be there military balls back in Honolulu, Hawaii and after finishing our supper we went out for a fast smoke, As we walked back in a long hallway halfway there was a old Japanese man standing alone and something caught my eye. I told my wife stop and set my beer down and we walked back to him and as we did we both gave him a fast salute. I did the talking and said it was a honor to meet you SIR he said thank you.

Then I looked at him and said " Go for Broke?" He smiled at me not knowing how I knew that "saying" and I asked him if he was in the 442nd INF and he said yes. He talked to both of us for a bit then we noticed others were standing behind us that wanted to meet this old man. That old man was wearing the Medal of Honor and he and his family were in those camps in the first part of the war.

Anytime I hear something similar to, "I'm not against guns, I own guns..." I just know where that is going.

I didn't belong to the NRA for years and at times thought their positions were extreme until the 1968 Crime Control and Safe Streets Act and watched it change almost month by month often solely through decree of BATFE and not legislation.

Both the Heller and McDonald decisions leave enough holes to drive a truck through as to further gun controls, no I am not going to just step aside and bet my future "rights" on the good will and integrity of the SCOTUS, as mentioned they have been wrong more than once in the past and will be in the future.

No, I don't buy into all that the NRA puts forth, but I would hate to think where we would be without the NRA-ILA.

Well, those two criminals got what they deserved. Its true that most people think it will never happen to them and do nothing to be prepared. I know people who have had their houses broken into and still don't prepare in anyway.

This happened a few miles from where I live, a couple of nights ago. Very rural area. This older man would have been dead if he had not been armed. My wife and I always have a firearm within reach. Not only would the police not get here in time, no one would probably know anything was wrong til we didn't show up for work. Self defense is a God-given right. NO ONE has the authority to dictate to me how and where I can defend myself and my family.

Well, statistically, a loaded gun within reach in a household is far more likely to harm a family member (kids fooling around, spousal violence, suicide) than to prevent harm from a burglar.

I own guns, but I sure don't have them laying around, loaded, in the house...
