homemade boom for atv sprayer.....ideas?

   / homemade boom for atv sprayer.....ideas? #12
Chris, I am in the process of making a boomless attachment for my new sprayer. Bought a"as advertised" 16' spray nozzle from northern tool, Fabricated a bracket from 1/2" conduit with set screw tightening couplings.
This way I can spray behind or to the side with just a little adjustment. Don't have pix yet.

First off thank you for all the replies.....couple questions what size boomless sprayer head would u recommend? Where did you buy it? Coop? Tractor store? Tractor supply? Do all boomless heads fit all sprayers? Sorry for all the questions but I do not know anything about it.....Chris

I use a boomless on my 4 wheeler mounted sprayer. Your sizing will depend on your pump capacity. I have a 2.1 GPM pump on my 16 gallon sprayer. I sized my nozzle to be less than the 2.1 gpm capacity of the pump to guarantee developing the correct pressure to spray full width. Mine will spray a 10 ft wide pattern and dumps my 16 gallon tank pretty rapidly. I was able to find my nozzle at a farm store. I also agree that high wind may cause more drift with the boomless nozzles. Rate of application is controlled by ground speed.

Here is one i built, high wind doesn't bother it so much as i have mine close to the ground. How ever, only thing i want to do is put valves in between so i can shut down some tips.

I would like to call my above 10 ft. wide pattern a typo, but it was poor memory. It actually sprays a 20 ft pattern and is a brass teejet 1/4KLC-9. I have the specs for the boomless nozzles as well as ground speed charts on XL spredsheets if anyone needs them. Don't know how to attach here so send an E-Mail to jbooth1013@mchsi.com if interested.

I have the same little blue spray heads on mine. Nice thing is that in addition to the filter on the pickup in the tank, inside the spay head is a little screen too, so there is virtually no change of a head ever pluggin!

with the little filter i made for inside the tank i dont even run screens on the tips. I am using medium yellow tips. It doesnt take long for my to drain a 25gallon tank.

Chris, sorry I took so long to get the pix. Here is my "as advertised" by northern tool 16' boomless nozzle rig on my skid sprayer. By loosening at the elbow set screw and a little twist of the nozzle the boom can be moved to spray to the sides. Haven't had a chance to try it out in the field, have to build a carry all for it. It is a unused 65 gal rig that I picked up cheap.
The hand sprayer works great.
