Are you sure there's no way of adjusting the float? I know on the older Hondas the manual would show you how to bend it.

Thanks for asking but float is hard plastic no way to bend it without breaking it...I have a factory service manual and it clearly says on page 5-14:

"The float cannot be adjusted". Thanks anyhow.

Question - Normally the float is non adjustable but the tang is! Does it not have an adjustable (bendable) tang that the needle is slipped on? If so, that is your adjustment. The float is too high.

As for the petcock shutting the flow off. Rebuild the valve with a small kit which should have a replacement rubber o-ring, which is normally the problem.

I'll look up the fiche and see if it has a tang.

As for the fiche, unable to tell. But I have yet to see a honda float that you can't bend the tang to set the float height correctly.

As I said, it is a HARD PLASTIC float and there is no tang to bend. The float has a GROOVE in the upper part that the needle base fits into.

NO TANG....GOT THAT????

Yep, I got it. Thanks for the clarification. Picture please, haven't seen one like that yet, good to know for later information.

Definitely didn't mean to stir the pot! Hope you figure it out. I use forum boards to fix things and bounce ideas off of. Peace!

Does the needle have the springy tip on the end away from the rubber needle? If so does it still work. The last thing would be to replace needle valve and float. The rubber could have gotten too hard from just age and it no longer conforms to seal. If you would like to discuss more, please post and I'll continue to rattle to see if I can help.

Took these with my phone camera, one shows the float in the position as it sits in the card float bowl, with the slot that holds the float facing up. Another shows it with the needle installed in the slot. Float cannot be adjusted, any bending of the float near the slot will break the plastic. Your air valve solution may be what fixes mine, I have done extensive searches online for this problem and have never turned up the air valve as a possible cause, only the float is ever mentioned.

Sorry if you thought I was being short...but do you see a float tab that can be bent on the pics? Everybody seems to think there IS a float tab.....

Thanks for your input !!
