Most of the time, on the Honda gas motors around here, it only takes a few mins, to take the bowl off the bottom of the carb, clean it out with carb cleaner, drop the float, and spray the valve clean, and count the turns on the main jet, spray it clean as well. Put it back and it will start. Done this to many times to rember.

Why should I have to do this? I have two gas ATV's, a gas lawn tractor, a gas weed eater, and a gas chain saw that sit several months during winter with out this special care and they start with no problem in the spring.

Ditto on that comment. And don't add fuel additive and start using ethanol free gas tomorrow.

Ethanol free fuel is still available in our area. I have never bought any fuel with ethanol in it. Right now I am considering that the Stabil that I have used has done me more harm than good.

Whistle I know you are aggravated by the situation . I would and have been too 'cause I 've been there. But to answer why you should have to do this ? Its simple . Either pay the money for someone else to do it or do it yourself . Then figure out why it happened in the first place .

I think you said the gennie was 4 years old and the first time you really ran it was last Feb . This ain 't gonna be warranty work unless your dealer is really a great person .

I don't expect it to be warranty work and I am more than willing to pay the full price to the dealer for the repair. But before he gets my hard earned cash he is for sure going to explain what went wrong in detail before I walk out of his store.

I have found that the B&S motors, and other engines, are more forgiving about older gas around here, I used to have many gas riders that would survive the winter, and start right up. But the Honda's on the power washer and the genset seem to harder to deal with older gas. Just my 2 cents.

That 's a reasonable take on the situation . I 'd take a non-agressive but firm approach when explaining that to him . Kinda hard to expect an explanation before the fact if that 's what you have in mind . He 's got to do a diagnostic of some kind . After the repair is done he will either get the cash or the gennie .

I truly do hope it all works out to your satisfaction . I know what its like to be without power and a running gennie after going through months without juice after Katrina and a house that was unlivable .

I won't be aggressive. These are country folks out here. The dealer asks where I live and I give him my neighbors name. He knows exactly where I live. Folks are brutally honest here. Refreshingly so. They waste no time on nonsense. I will see what the dealer says and then post this.
