Honda Ridgeline Pickup anyone?

I've owned a 2017 Ridgeline for over a year now. 20,000 miles on it. Absolutely love this little "truck". Rides like a nice SUV......very smooth. Pretty nimble for parking and loaded with all the features you would want. I like being able to haul dirty stuff or deer and such in the box. I have a brake controller on mine and can take my tractor to the dealer (short trip) and it does fine. I would not buy it if you want to tow heavy loads on a regular basis......but for "normal" or occasion towing and occasional" Moderate" trailer work it's fine.

I put a "Titanium" roll up (aluminum slats covered with black vinyl) cover on my bed.....and I have been quite satisfied with this tonneau cover.

Mine gets about 22.5 MPG in everyday driving......and I have gotten to 26 on a highway trip. I'd buy another Ridgeline in a heartbeat (for my purposes).

The 2018 has a tow button which locks out 5th and 6th, whereas the older model would float between 3rd, 4th and 5th.

I pull a 5k trailer (2 axle) occasionally, sometimes 5K+ and it is more stable than the previous model. I don't need to be chastised, it only happened once for 3 miles.

If you are only mildly interested, don't test drive one.

I guess I'm now in that category. Test drove Toyota Tacoma/Tundra, Frontier/Titan (both feel small), Colorado/Canyon and bought a 2019 RTL-E, AWD for SO. Is it a truck, not really. Is it just about perfect for what she wants a "truck" for (horse trailer, p/u 10-12 bags of feed, take dog to vet....) absolutely. The swinging/folding tailgate and the in-bed lockable storage were two of the biggies along with being more "her size". Her last Honda gave 207,000 and eleven years for her, so let's hope she picked good again.

Two questions, where is the tow button and where did you mount a brake controller?

I had my brake controller mounted just above my right knee. It stays there full time. At first I thought it may provide some interference every now and again.....but nope!.....works just fine there and I have never bumped it with my knee. I have a Prodigy controller. IIRC.....the shift limiter is engaged by pulling the gear shift lever toward you (toward the drivers side).

I counted the new vehicles I have owned (used to be a road salesman....so I have had a few) and it numbers over 35 vehicles from cars to suburbans and various pick up trucks. All were pretty well loaded. This Ridgeline is my favorite vehicle ever owned. Has all the right whistles and bells and the latest safety features, etc. Perfect size for my tastes and gets the jobs done that I need done. It's kinda a "gentlemen" pick up truck....yep.....but it's what I need. The independent 4 wheel suspension provides a super ride!

My wife has a new Lexus RX350.....and I think the ride in my Ridgeline compares favorably in ride. I like my (Garmin based) GPS WAAAAY better than what Lexus puts in their vehicles (crap). When we go on a road trip I would rather take my Ridgeline than "her" Lexus.....and she likes my Ridgeline too. ;) Just saying.

Something to consider, the aluminum ones are pretty cool ,but require more effort to remove (if desired/needed). Ours got the extang tri-fold, because I can pop off in just a couple minutes and tuck in the backseat. Probably not a big deal but one of my trucks had a fiberglass cover and it didn't take long to realize that was a huge mistake. You had to remember to take it off at home (2 people), go get what you wanted, put it back on and hope nothing happened to it while you were screwing around with it. Never again.

Except Tractor time tim's video has an ad for Peragon folding aluminum and those look really good.

Wasn't able to open links but it looks like the after market thinks it is worthwhile to tool up for the ridgeline...

Friends just bought a new Accord earlier this year and they have a Forester... like both vehicles... recently, they bought a home... and have quickly learned just how valuable the cargo capacity of a truck is.

I've owned at least one trailer since I was 16... sure is the most economical way to move things and I put things in trailers I would never put in a nice pickup bed.

That said... finding parking for a car with a trailer in a city like SF is a problem in and of itself... a small pickup would be like heaven for most things.

The F150 I gave my nephew a few years back had a nice material rack... he took it off last week so he can more easily put his motorcycle in the bed... Dad was not too thrilled since the material rack on a F150 8' bed extended cab was perfect for picking up 21' lengths of pipe and 20' lumber... the bed was perfect for 4x8 sheet goods... Dad's Super Duty needs the bed tailgate down for big loads of 4x8 sheet goods.

To me the wife's Rav4 is nothing more than a Corolla wagon with awd and a little more ground clearance. I'd never call it an SUV but it's exactly what we need. The reviews said it didn't handle as good as some of the other brands when pushed hard in the corners and it felt as sporty.
The RAV4 is one of the many, many Crossovers on the market, ordinarily differentiated from SUVs by unibody construction.

There is a reason why Subaru market share in Vermont is eight times their national share.
