Our two Dodges have similar hooks. They are too low in the bed... How do you have a bed full of "stuff" and still reach those? I find it hard to secure loads with only four restraint points. It is also hard to throw hitches and knots on those cleats when you can not reach them or they are crowded by your load.
It is surely something that is the same to all pickups. You can add various aftermarket stuff. But, when you pay the prices for pickups these days, at least it should have a way to securley tie off a load.
I see so many dangerous loads out there on the road. I see some pretty hokey attempts, honest but hokey, to secure loads by running ropes down the bed, around the frame ect.
When we got our '01 and '04 Dodges, I sent a note to Dodge about that... These engineers should have to load the trucks and pass a safety inspection before they can release the final version.
At least a few of the manufacturers are trying these days...
