hood cost?

Dropped a 30lb rock from bucket onto hood, bad dent. Is hood plastic, metal, fiberglass? It dented hard, must be metal? Searched internet, cant find a hood anywhere! Where are they, what cost?

Duh. Look at his id. 2305. It's metal. I'm interested too. I was digging out a neighbor's camp at the end of this (epic) winter and had a chunk of ice fall from my FEL and dent my hood. It's really thin (cheap?) :confused2:

The hood part number is LVA801992. Any John Deere dealer can get one for you for around $750.00. You might find a used one, but they are pretty rare in salvage yards. It is metal. This is assuming it is for your 2305?

Being metal, take it to a local body shop, they should be able to pound it out, add a smidgon of bondo, paint it like new.
You will probably need to supply the paint purchased from your tractor dealer for a perfect color match.

Well, you can try eBay...Deere hoods show up fairly frequently.
Or, pull it off and take it to a body shop for repair/repaint.

Just out of curiosity, why did you have your bucket so high?

My B7800 Kubota new hood from four years ago was around $500 before you add in the decals.
Only a small ding but my stupidity bothered me so much I just closed my eyes and replaced it.

I third then idea of a body shop fixing it. And second the using JD paint form the dealer. Other paints will fade quickly or turn blue/green.

Then again, you could pound the dent out yourself and when someone notices, you will have the story of the evil rock to tell

Good question! Picture this: An inground swimming pool. The pool has a 42" high metal ornamental fence around it. A Koi pond is located in corner, between pool sidewalk and fence. I am eliminating pond, so...after draining there is a lot of rounded stone, rocks, all there when pond was built for looks.
I have to get rid of rocks, rounded smooth rocks and river stone...so...I pull tractor up to fence, hoist fel is above fence, bucket is at about 45' angle.
I load bucket....get in tractor, start, slowly lift fel, move back, AND ON THE THIRD BUCKET LOAD I CURL BUCKET BACK BEFORE I LOWER FEL. hello 20lb rock! Am I stupid. Yes, I know better at 55 years old. Frickin moron I am.
