Thanks for the compliment on the "protectors." /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

They were my second and third welding projects. The first was the bucket hooks last summer...woodworking skills transfer to metal I guess, if you learn to make it stick together. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I was wondering what color to paint it, and I must confess that while I had considered Black, green had never entered my mind...not sure why. I really don't have any concept of color coordination so any color would have been fine. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

RonL,

Maybe I better rent that video! I need some ideas for the grill guard and belly pan that I may make, not because I need them, but because I need another welding project or two! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'm also thinking of making some kind of guard to put on the back of the rops for use when running the rotary cutter. An easy on/easy off type set up.

Nice job Bill,

Those protectors look great. I think they will keep head and hood in their present condition. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

( These have to be one of the best buys of the year. Cost $7.95 each. I use them for holding things(guides/featherboards) to my table saw table, and also for holding tubing and things in place on my welding table. )

These were primarily intended for holding a dial indicator.
Harbor Freight has them currently on sale for $6.95 which
includes posts/swivels/clamp.

I did a search in Harbor Freight and didn't find the item that you mentioned. Do you have an item number?)

It is 5646-2VGA. The -2VGA is significant and enables the discount.
Doesn't seem to find it on the website. Try calling them. I believe
the sale is still active.

Henro, great project idea. I take delivery of my 2210 with FEL by the weekend. I will have a lot of clearing to do when we start building our new log home. Guess I have a welding project to do. I haven't done much welding since I built those buckets. Good to still see you around.

Hey deere_x475guy,

I feel a lot better under that metal than I used to bare headed as I as pushing a dead tree over... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

From what I can see, tapering it to the front and dropping the front down produced something that will let me sneak between the trees almost like it isn't there.

Don't get over the Hobart site as much as I would like too...nice seeing you around too.
