Bucket Hooks Hooks on bucket.

My old dealer (no longer a JD dealer) had a top-notch machinist/welder working in his shop. He cut the clevises off of 3/8" inch hooks right out of the bin, welded them on at the loader arm attaching points, and welded gussets under each attachment point. I've had him do this on two loader buckets over the years and compliment him every time I see him. If you have the skills or know someone who does, this is the way to go--see attachments:

Mike - where did you find the bolt-on ones? I didn't see them in the AW Direct catalog.

Thanks, -Norm

I prefer tow hooks.

In my opinion and experience any hook is better than no hook!

But having a slip hook in the center of my bucket, and grab hooks at the ends has shown me the advantage of grab hooks.

With the grab hooks it is not necessary to double back the chain and hook it to itself. Great convenience and time saver.

I do like the slip hook in the center though...pull the chain through it and hook it into one of the grab hooks on the outside edge of the bucket... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Any hook is better than not hook, but grab hooks win in my book...for my needs... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This is what we opted for, but I agree with Henro, any style of hooks are better than no hooks at all.

I vote with Henro too, Grab Hooks. My J.D. dealer welded them on the 410 FEL before delivery. He said then, "I don't know any one with a FEL that doesn't weld these on eventually...you'll need them". Hardly a day goes by that I don't use them to pull out, drag, lift,.... some thing that won't just slide into the bucket w/o help or holding.

I just ordered 3 of the grab hooks. I like the idea of not having to double back to your chain.

Just ordered 3, one on each side and one in the center. But I do have the cheaper or light duty bucket that New Holland has so I will weld some type of support in there.

I borrowed a solution someone else had on here, bolt on, bought at TSC, grade 8 bolts, 5/16 I think hooks, works well for the light stuff I will do
