For heavy things like this over 3K cattle guard, two chains on the teeth and two on the back hooked to the top edge:

When I got the AF120 I welded a couple of hooks on pretty much the day it got here - that and 2 new sides for the bucket as they had rotted through.

And yes I need to get around to painting it too even though I know it's going to come straight off again!

Did they come with a plate to backup under the bucket? Some buckets are kinda thin on AG tractors so they tend to distort when working the hooks hard. Especially when mount far from the welded ends.

I used Bolt On Hooks also, Two on the bucket. My dealer offered to weld them on, but I decided to drill instead. I guess I didn't want to mess with the paint job. Like it matters on the bucket anyway. Larry

Welded 3 hooks on a 1/4 plate, and mounted the plate on the top edge of my bucket. One hook in the center, and the outside ones in line with the lift cylinders. Used 1/4 U-channel underneath the bucket top edge as a back-up plate, and grade 8 bolts and tight washers. It isn't going to bend. At least, not with anything my tractor will lift. Lifting a heavy load with a hook on the outboard portion of your bucket can easily tweek your loader frame. It will also get the rear wheel opposite the lifting hook up in the air. Have done that even with my configuration. That can get exciting, and make you lower that load in a hurry. Learned to spread out the load side-to-side evenly using at least the 2 two outboard hooks.

Yes they did come with backing plates.

Backing plates are the answer to a thin bucket. They work better when they are larger than the top plate.
