Horse Boarding

As QRTRHRS said, it is a life-style (choice / change). Have you ever seen a house with a tree growing up in it (on purpose) ? I've seen a couple. Well its kind of like that. You have a life, then you board horses, and now you have a tree (horse care) in the middle of your house (life).

When I was younger, I had a paper route. That is a 365-day a year job. This is 10 times more than that. Every morning and every night, gotta feed the horses. Gotta watch them for injury or signs of other problems. You have to hunt down good hay, buy grain, supply water, maybe put blankets on and off in the winter. Vacations become difficult to arrange..I could go on and on but its been said before here in various threads.

The best reasons for boarding horses is not to make money, but because you love horses and / or want to be around other people who love horses, people who will ride with you, etc.

This person should meet with prospective horse owners and fid out what their expectations are.

Northern Cal has more grass than most places but horses do more than eat the grass they stomp it to death. 5 horses on 5 AC will look like a Walmart parking lot in 90 days. Plus you have to be prepared for this sort of stuff --- not fun.
