horse etiquette

I've been told that horse manure does not make good fertilizer. The vegatative matter is not as digested as cow manure. Possibly because cows chew their cud and horses do not(?).
Horses only have 1 stomach compared to 4 for a cow. Feed passes through faster so it is not as digested. My pastures where I spread manure still love it.

When we first moved here we had a couple neighbors with horses, one of them moved the other either got rid of hers or just doesn't ride them anymore.
When they'd leave a "souvenir" on the side of the road I'd just scoop it up with a shovel & dump it in my compost pile.

Last couple years bear poo has been a bigger hazard.

Then again, i make my horses dispose of their own waste…

I would go out there with my pooper-scooper and a 5 gallon bucket and pick them up and put it in the garden, ot the compost bin.

Maybe even sell the free fertilizer.
I was thinking the same thing.

Best suggestion so far.
When I was a little kid, my dad took me to a circus held indoors at a local large arena. Acrobats, clowns, horses, lion tamer, the whole bit.

But the thing I remember the most is leaving through the dock doors, and there, just inside the door, was a guy with a shovel, a wheelbarrow, and a tremendous pile of elephant poop. It was spectacular! :ROFLMAO:
