Horse manure as a good garden compost?.🤔🤔🤔

If it's a few years old it works. It works pretty good maybe not as good as other manure but still works... I brought my horse at my property and I left a few pile on the grass and at these spots the grass got a lot greener and taller, so it is still a good fertilizer. I guess you simply have to be selective on where you put it.

Any more west and we'd be fishing instead of farming. The water and soil is quite alkaline here.
Organic gypsum is a good source of both calcium and sulfur needed for high yield. Anything you add to clay helps drainage and retention.
Clay sucks.

When growing up we used to clean the stables and put it on the field in what people called week spots and the garden area. The garden area was plowed and let lay fallow over the winter. This was done to allow the manure to age and break down and provide nutrients to the soil. One has to be careful with fresh manure around vegetables. Fresh manure can contain bacteria and contaminate vegetable and cause sickness.

It was also always considered a no-no to clean the chicken house out and throw this in the garden area.

No issue with N here, I just add 40 granulated Urea to the garden in the spring. Buy it by the skid anyway.

The last bag of that I purchased I paid 70-80 dollars for and had to sign more papers than when I purchased a hand gun.

I still don’t believe they would have sold it to me if I had not had a real ID.

Most alkaline soils have an over abundance of calcium. I sure wouldn’t add additional.

plus... horse pucky is full of weed seeds.
Yes, I had a bad experience with raw horse manure that made weeds grow all over the garden.
Ever since I never use raw manure but only more than 1 years old well-rotted manure.
Actually, horse manure contains not only manure but rice straw and some dirt also
that makes good compost for gardening as you can see in the video once well-rotted especially nitrogen.

It's always refreshing to hear your improved solutions but they often go right over the heads of us less educated and world traveled unless you take time fill in details. Approximately how much organic matter does a skid of 40% granulated Urea add to soil? Do you have an analysis of P-K and micro-nutrients supplied by Urea?

Granulated Urea is a prime source on nitrogen and application rates need to be based on soil analysis as each case is different. What works for me may not work for you... How's that for an answer.

You can always buy a sack of 12-12-12 and use that too.
