I’ve got plenty of damaged straps that I use anyway. It would take pretty significant damage to not still be stronger than a 1” strap. Just don’t plan on holding the previous working load with it.

No loss, Sodo. Chop off the heat damaged part and take advantage of the “shorty” for all those occasions you don’t need all that extra length for securing. This may be your ‘go to’ strap!

I’ve got boxes of webbing straps I’ve shortened that I keep around for making hinges, hangers etc.

I did a quickie for the second photo with a single bolt as an example for creating the “eye”. Normally for a 3-4” wide strap I would have used two bolts with a full width backing strip on each side. Holes in webbing should be punched as opposed to drilled.

I take excess strap material and use them to hold AR500 steel targets.

I roll mine a zip-tie them.....usually. Excess strap gets flipped on itself and tied to the tight part of the strap.
