So today was the meet and greet with the (store bought truss folks). They had actual software to ply with variations on the roof/style/pitch. Both my wife and I agreed to this for our new roof. "I was blown away at the hundreds of variations and pitch angles" that were shown.. Prices went from 10k all the way up to 50k. Monster ceiling heights and roof pitches made the house look formidable and gave the impression of wealth. I was not digging it.
I explained that the reason for the roof was not to impress (although my wife was drooling) - but for function. I must confess that I was not prepped for what could be done on a roof of a house! Good lord....
So this is what we chose, 8:12 with a 4:12 bump-out to allot for the bump out. Trusses will have a 16" eave and no load bearing walls outside of existing structure.
I opted for trusses placed at 16" on center VS 2' on center.
