RobS,

In upstate NY all it has done is RAIN. But I called the excavator tonight, and they dropped off a dozer today, and with any luck they are starting tomorrow. They are repairing a few pieces of equipment that they need so I will be seeing them this weekend to review progress and make sure all is going as planned.

I can't believe it we are getting started and a few days early. Maybe I will have a foundation in by the first week of June. I will have photo's and the new digi camera will do just that.

Rob,
He says it will be the end of aug. I think we will be looking more to the end of sept. I hope we get the plans soon. It has taken over 3 weeks so far. The guy doing the plans is real backed up./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Well I stopped out to the property today (bringing my camera tomorrow) and they have already started the clearing. It looks pretty good for one day of work. They are doing exactly as I asked. But they have alot more tree removal and work to do. I will post some photo's tomorrow.

Alright MD, progress! Now the excitement can really begin. Is it a muddy mess? We didn't have any clearing to do so I'm not sure what you're facing now. Anxious to see pictures though.

We met with the electricians yesterday to go over the rough ins. Plumbers were there doing the DWV rough ins. I'm hoping for dry weather today and tomorrow so I can get some tractor time out there /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

RobS,

Yesterday it was dry, but today it was a muddy mess. I brought the digital camera out tonight, but I had the image size on the maximum instead of 480x640. So I have to go out tomorrow to meet with them and will take new photo's. We should have the clearing done by Monday or so. Then they are getting started on my drive way. Got to take lots of photo's. We are clearing 150' x 300' of dead or dying trees and brush. Thats allot of stuff.

Re: House, Framing nearly complete

I took this yesterday morning as the sun was just peeking through the clouds. You wouldn't know from the picture that I had to scrape the frost off my windshield on the way out there /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Tomorrow should be a big day. Windows going in /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif Another eight loads of fill coming also. We should have basement and garage floors this week as well and the roofers will get started on the shingles.

And wouldn't you know it, the grass (weeds) out there need some cutting /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hi Rob,

Looks great... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I had commented on your original plans on the number of windows being used... as I love God's natural light... and you'll have an abundance of it... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

How many windows total are being used for the entire home...? ( and getting really noisy... how much money $$$ does just the windows translate to...?/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif) (just whack me on the side of the head if I get out of line.../w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif)

Re: House, Framing nearly complete

Yes John, we love natural light as well. Also seems so many "subdivision" homes have very few windows and we want to capture the period look for the house.

I had counted around 50 windows but the window people count the mulled units as one even though it may be made of several seperate windows. Their count was around 34 as I recall. We shopped around a bit with our builder and settled on Windsor brand. Liked them better than Pella or Anderson and we got a nice price break as the local distributor is trying to establish the brand in our area. Our builder had used them with success in one other house so far.

Price-wise... suffice to say windows are not cheap. Add in the extension jambs for 2X6 walls and a couple of ovals and we were seeing stars. But it fit into the overall budget and preserves the look we want. Interestingly enough, the two ovals account for 10% of the overall window bill!

I should have pictures of the windows in tomorrow night. I'm definitely taking donuts out there tomorrow morning /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: House, Framing nearly complete

Rob,
Things are really looking great. When the windows & doors go in, you should get keys. That's quite a feeling /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
The rooflines and windows will be beautiful./w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

I have not been to our new house for 10 days /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif due to being on vacation to the Outerbanks /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. I will go out today to see what's changed. We should have running water, electirc and some drywall & siding started...

I will have some finish grading and seeding to do this week if weather permits.
