I am scheduled for the first shot tomorrow. I really do not want to take it but feel I must. I am 70 and my fianc is battling cancer so her immune system is weakened. If there are side effects down the road, my road isn't too long anyway. She is 57 and has more to live for.

I am driving two hours each way to get the shot then doing it again in three weeks.

I pray for all those affected by this atrocity we have are facing. So many deaths that should never have happened ,and so many others suffering.

Don, keep the faith, I'm 78, waiting for the shot. Looks like in Oregon they are running out of "shots". I hope your fiance' will be OK.

They have found an effective way of identifying covid in specific areas is with sewerage testing, areas are being quarantined as positive results present, so far proving effective.

Take care of yourself- buddy of mine Had GBS and was temporarily paralyzed. Fought his way back to about 95%.

Yes, I couldn’t walk 3 days after it struck, and couldn’t move my legs, feet or toes within a week due to the nerve damage GBS does. Most of that eventually comes back, but not 100%. Takes a long time for the nerves to heal. I was fortunate it was diagnosed and treated in time before it shut down my upper body and respiratory. Once you get it, it’s a race against the clock.

This is why I could not hire a sewer rooter for love or money...

City tagged one of the rentals as raw sewage was coming out the on grade cleanout and occupants were home quarantined as they were in close contact with someone testing positive.

My regulars as well as Angies and Diamond Certified, etc... all said they are not doing this type of work right now.

With the city breathing down my back I cleared it myself but was ankle deep in it... a wad of baby-wipes and feminine hygiene products wrapped around the cable... two weeks ago yesterday.

I was thinking why are not Sewer workers at the top of the list?

You would think I could get my 87 year old Mom a vaccine but no go in this county...

My Hospital employer has a 24/7 employee help line that I have never used... one of the offerings is assistance for elder care.

I explain that I am the sole caregiver for mom and am concerned I might bring something home...

The person listened and suggested I apply for leave under the Family Leave Act to care for Mom... apparently I can take several months using various combinations.

My reply was isn't a shot simpler as there is no one that does what I do at my site...

Keep hearing from those concerned why can't you get Mom in as you are connected...

As for you being the only one that does what you do for your employer... been there, always felt obligated to do my job, saved their bacon more than once... in return, after 30 years of service, they gave us 6 weeks notice that they outsourced all of our jobs and cut our severance in half two weeks before the announcement. You owe them nothing but a fair day's work for a fair day's pay. That they have no backup plan for your absence is on them, since you've made this pretty obvious to them over the years, per our conversations.

Why does it matter what county?
We drove 2 counties (~2 hours) away to get our first Mississippi shot.
No residency was mentioned.
I know in Virginia, where we are residents (as far as the Federal tax is concerned) it specifically states on the website that you sign up on that you don't have to be a resident of of Virginia.
