Re: How痴 Eddie?

Don, keep the faith, I'm 78, waiting for the shot. Looks like in Oregon they are running out of "shots". I hope your fiance' will be OK.
It's really hit and miss on the shots and depends on each state. Some are setting up vaccination sites at stadiums.

In our area the supermarket pharmacies are doing covid vaccinations. You call and get on the schedule. Same for testing. It's easier and faster to get tested for covid at the supermarket then it is getting tested at a walk in clinic or at your doctors office.

Getting vaccinated though is a different matter. You get on the schedule with an appointment. And right now they are booked out 6 to 8 weeks.

Neighbor got on the list with a scheduled date of March for their shots at the local supermarket pharmacy. But were able to get on a second list for a call if they get a cancelation. They got a call back, bumped up the list and should have gotten the vaccine either last Tuesday or maybe it was this Tuesday. I can't remember which.

I fall into the 1C category. They are projecting that they won't even start taking appointments for that category till mid April. So I might be able to get it sometime mid summer.

Re: Howç—´ Eddie?

Family leave act can allow you some time to find a place that can get your mom vaccinated, and give you the time off until she develops the immunity, as that apparently takes weeks/months.

As for you being the only one that does what you do for your employer... been there, always felt obligated to do my job, saved their bacon more than once... in return, after 30 years of service, they gave us 6 weeks notice that they outsourced all of our jobs and cut our severance in half two weeks before the announcement. You owe them nothing but a fair day's work for a fair day's pay. That they have no backup plan for your absence is on them, since you've made this pretty obvious to them over the years, per our conversations. ;)

Yep, for sticking with a project thru till the very end instead of bailing, I got handed a pink slip as thanks, even after I had found a new project to work on.
Everyone is replaceable, and they don’t care if it will cost them more money as they flounder around trying to figure out what you did.

Re: How痴 Eddie?

Why does it matter what county?
We drove 2 counties (~2 hours) away to get our first Mississippi shot.
No residency was mentioned.
I know in Virginia, where we are residents (as far as the Federal tax is concerned) it specifically states on the website that you sign up on that you don't have to be a resident of of Virginia.

Proof of residency required for racial equity if you are not in a care facility plus it’s almost all online which creates HIPA issues when third party arranged over the phone... can’t show powers of attorney and can’t do a good impression of Mom who has Blue Cross Anthem with additional supplements.

Primary Care said all they do is field Vaccine calls all day and they have no provision for Vaccine in part they are not eligible due to lack of required temperature storage...

My site has no Vaccine either... all done at sister facility 5 minutes away...

Absolutely True!
When they feel the need to do so, you will become history overnight,..... with no gold watch!

Guess I spoiled them... July will be 30 years and never missed a days work and High School the same.

With Covid we are busier than we have been in years as non Covid cases get scheduled at my place...

I certainly understand that does make YOU feel good!
THEY don't give a hoot.
Unfortunately, they see YOU as just another pawn in THEIR game.

A couple of years back I was banging my head against the wall with the merger and received good advice here...

Funny thing is not a one of the corp people up to the 38 site division chair is with the company today.

I'm the first in the family to work for a large corp concern and it was by accident... one side farms and the other almost exclusively self employed...

I thank Eddie the latitude shown on my postings

I remember that.
It helps you have something they need. Corp people are more replaceable. One of the reasons I stayed technical instead of going into management. I get emails constantly from recruiters.

Unfortunately, unless you leave a hole when pulling your hand out of a pail of water, you will not be missed. Hoping Eddie gets back to his normal, real soon.

Re: How痴 Eddie?

82 here and with COPD.
So far no information as to how where or when I might see a vaccination
.
Meanwhile prisoners and hospital CEO's get the shots.
Nurses, doctors and EMT's, I agree.
I am even seeing debates that suggest elders are more and more in the disposable categoryi
Kind of scary to say the least.

It's almost like Covid is doing what ****** failed to accomplish.

Crazy, but I know some that say they will never let somebody inject germs into their body!

Another crazy scene. (hearsay)
A retired airline pilot was told that if he took the Covid shots he'd lose his retirement company insurance coverage.
Seems he was told they were leery of unknown side effects the shots might bring about.
