How 2 Reverse 12v Electric over Hydraulic pump

Oooo, ooo. Just spotted it! The gold thingy on the top of the silver thingy? that's a manual release. Turn it to operate it.

I just love it when the experts use technical terms I can understand. Made perfect sense when I went back and looked for the gold thingy. :D

I take responsibility for initially using the term "red thingy" but I really couldn't come up with any other name for the watchamacallit, thinngymegig, or doohicky.

If you put power to the coil without it being on the valve you probaly burnt the coil up

My PT has a number of electromagnetic valves. One thing when you put the red cover back on it do NOT overtighten the nut that holds the magnet on. Most of mine are finger tight.

Make sure that the shaft of the electromagnet and the inside of the magnet are clean. No rust.

These things do not move far. You will want to hear for a tick when you activate it.

They do get plugged up, you can removed and clean, look inside for debris as that is what always gets me.

Wayne is probably right, but I believe the black knob goes on top of the solenoid and gold top and is used to manually control the valve. It probably only turns 1/4 to 1/2 turn . The motor itself does not reverse. Fluid path is switched in the manifold assembly. This is just one theory how it might operate. With the wiring in place, and the up button is pushed, the motor runs and extends the cylinder. When the down button is pressed, the motor runs and the red solenoid is activated , and fluid changes direction and the cylinder will retract. If the solenoid will not let the cylinder close, try the manual release while pressing the down button.

Does the red coil only fit one way, maybe it is upside down.

Ahhh, good point Carl. The nut on the top of the solenoid coil gets tightened to about 10 inch lbs, that's about 1 ft pound.

I think the valves on a Power Trac are a little more sensitive than these valves, but a good thing to do anyway.

It is DC coil it doesn't matter if it is on the solenoid or not. It will not burn unless it is defective. If energized it should pull some iron item in the hole. In ex. screwdriver or nail.

Sorry, but it will burn out ac or dc. it dosn't matter

Impedance of AC coild depends on the magnetic core. Impedance od DC doesn't depend on it. For DC it is the resistance of winding only that limits the current. DC coil will not burn when removed from solenoid.

I was having a problem with a scissor-lift 24V dc I pulled the 3 coils that operate forward and reverse to remove the valves .Got called out on service call ,returned cleaned valves and reinstalled coils .would not work all 3 were burnt , found out someone plugged it back in and tried to move it.

3 coils@$110 each
