How About New Holland?

I was originally looking at John Deere. Then Kubota. Is New Holland a viable alternative in terms of quality, reliability value...?
The Case/New Holland company is actually larger than Deere or Kubota, but most of their equipment is farm size equipment. CNH is the largest agricultural company in the world. In the compact tractor market, Kubota leads the market with roughly 60% of the sales, Deere is number two with something between 20% and 23% of the market. New Holland has about 12% to 15% of the market. Combined the 3 companies have roughly 92% of the entire compact tractor market. Mahindra is reported to be #4 with about 5% of the total market.

I think it is fair to say that New Holland is a 'viable alternative' to Deere and Kubota. What many people have found is that NH is often a bit more expensive, especially in the under-35hp range of tractors. What many people also find is that NH out-specs most of the competitors or out features them, or both, so while they are SOMETIMES a bit more expensive they are often very good values.

In my case I have a Kubota and a New Holland. I like them both. The NH is smaller than the Kubota but has more hydraulic power on the FEL and a much better design. The Kubota is a larger frame size and offers a bigger operators platform and more horsepower. So I like them both, but they are different class tractors. Interstingly I went to buy a second Kubota (looking at the 24hp B7610) and walked away with a better deal on a NH TC24D so I proved that Kubota is not always the lower price. But in many circumstances it works out that way. As it turned out, I believe the TC24D is vastly superior to B7610 that I was intending on buying so I am very happy with my purchase.

What about these quotes from the Massey forum.

"Massey is the #1 selling tractor brand in all the world."
"Your opinion doesn't change the undeniable fact that Massey outsells every brand on a worldwide basis."

I went with NH as the TC29DA "out spec'd" and "out featured" its equivalent competitors, I also got a better trade in, and the dealer is "old school" where a handshake really means something. Jay

That is a nice advertising slogan. Massey has been around for a long time, but they make no impact on the C.U.T. market in North America. Dealers are few and far between and where there are dealers it is a viable brand to consider.

BTW, for the fans of JD, up until about a decade or so ago, that was primarily just a North American brand and primarily sold in the US and Canada. It is now a world wide company and one of the largest overall. As is Agco (makers of Massey, Challenger, Agco and about a dozen other brands) also a big name internationally is Mahindra, which is getting ready to claim that it will produce more tractors than John Deere. Mahindra has not yet passed JD in tractor production, but it is very close to doing that.

I was lucky in that both dealers I deal with are "old school" but when I really evaluated the tractors, the features and specs on the NH were superior to the comparable horsepower Kubota. That is not always true, but generally in the under 35hp classes, it is a pretty fair generalization.

I'm probably one of the most green and yellow people on the planet...and I own a NH TN65 and love it!!!!

Tractor loyality is a lot like trucks...whatever you have is best one manufactured.

My only concern about green and yellow was the cost of parts; generally higher than blue, orange, red, etc.

You'll do well with any of them.

Welcome to TBN !!As Many of the others have said............ any of the big 3 will serve you well just depends upon DEALER. I myself was sold on Kubota but due to lower than expected sincerity of local dealer....I ended up with a NH & am very happy with performance, incredible features & most of all reliability. I have yet to TEST out Dealer from a Maintenance perspective although initial purchase was defintely a well received experience. It has been incredible TBN members here that have kept me out of the Dealers shop now for 3 years. (All minor electrical problems).Good Luck in Your GRand Purchase, You cannot go wrong !!Vic

I looked at all 3 before finally deciding on the TN75. I had nerrowed ti down to either JD or NH, mainly because I liked the flat/open operator platform both provided. The comparible Kubota at that time had the gears and hump in the center of the platform which my size 14's found every time I got on and off.

I also got better pricing and features on the TN and IMO a better dealer too
