Hi. Need to know the total length of a B7610 TLB before I buy so that I can design a shed to house it. Does anyone use one of those prefab metal carports? Pardon the barrage of questions lately.

The first thing to do is to make sure your shed is much bigger than the tractor. You may need to get around it to work on it during the rain or whatever. Alwqays rememebr that bigger is better when it comes to sheds, garages and barns. Not to mention that you will need room to store all the toys for it also.

Moose, add a little extra length, or width, to house your implements. I presume your gardening persuits would require the addition of a tiller, and that mile long road you are dumping gravel on would be a lot smoother with a blade or two.

As for the metal carport things, I looked at some of them and found that you get what you pay for. Some cost a lot more than others. I even found one that looked like a barn, came in colors and had full sides and roll up doors just like a stick built barn but could be erected in a day. I think you need to figure out how much you want to spend on the shed and then go look at several dealers of the prefab steel buildings. Look at how they are fastened together, the weight of the steel, the options they have (some can be purchased as a carport and later EASILY enclosed, some are designed to remain an open carport and can NOT be easily enclosed).

My shop is 20x24. I wish it was 32x48. However my shop is also my wood shop, storage area and houses my B7500 and a JD riding mower with a trailer. I have to pull the tractors out to get into the shop. If I am reading your question correctly, I think you are asking about minimum square feet and in what configuration. My advice for a tractor shed would be to go for length instead of width. For example. My shop is 480 square feet. In the 20x24 configuration, it is not very effective for tractor and BH storage. It would be much better if it were 16x30, or even 12x40. This way you could pull your tractor in completely and drop the backhoe inside the shed. The other thing to remember is VERY high door heights. I have read about "other people" /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif having problems with door height and ROPS........

I have a L5030 with FEL and BH, and 6"tooth bar. I swing the BH to the side (cuts about 3' off total length) to close the door in the 20'X20' shed. I have to step in the bucket to get in front so an extra 2' would be nice. Make sure you get the door height right. I had to re-cut the door's height to get the BH in.

Several people have mentioned the door height but not numbers. I would expect that the BH and ROPS would be the critical factors in height. What would be a safe door height and then ceiling height for equipment in the 30 to 40 HP tractor class?

Moose:

One thing you'll find as you look at outbuildings is how much more you can get for an incremental sum. If you're looking at pole barns then you have quite a bit of flexibility. If you're looking at garages then you'll find a big jump when you go wider than 24' for trusses because you jump into the non-standard sizes. I went back and forth a lot before I finally settled on a pole barn. I'm having a 30'x50' built, but I could have gone larger for another $2000 or so. The best advice I can give is to assess what you want to spend and how much barn you can fit where you want to have it built. You'll never regret having too much barn.

A Kubota B7610 TLB is almost exactly 16' long--front of loader bucket to rear of BH bucket pin. It is 4' 10" wide across the flipped over Backhoe out riggers.

I have a 10' x 20' prefab shed that may eventually be modified with a bigger door to accomodate the tractor when I eventually need the space in the new shop. See attached pix of tractor alongside the shed. The Backhoe is not folded up as tight as possible in this pix. Also the outrigger pads are in their normal position, flipped over the width decreases almost 6".

I forgot to say, the width across the BH outriggers is with the outriggers up. I don't have the measurement across the outriggers at their widest, which you'd need if taking the BH off in a shed.

Also, you need space to store other attachments/implements and the space to back up/ drive up to them. In my case I keep the backhoe on all the time. I'll take the BH off out in the open when I hook up the box scraper and switch back when done with the box. Always have a counter weight on the back of the tractor when using the loader, I use the backhoe. But, I don't mow with the tractor either.
