Xfaxman, I think when most people think of angling, we are thinking of angling a rear blade as seen in the picture, and to the best of my knowledge, you will not be doing that with anything that you have shown so far. You are talking about tilting the box and tilting side to side, nothing any different than a 3pt hitch can do other than more extreme.

He's talking about angling his axles rather actually angling the box blade. Box blade stays the same orientation to the tractor, but the tractor is now driving at an angle... He's cheating.

Yes I know a box blade can't be angled on a tractor 3pt hitch.

I guess you have never operated a machine with crab steer. Look again at the picture. the box blade is moving straight, but at an angle to the ground.

Right! :D

I also use crab steer offset with the 7' brush hog to get close to the tree line and keep the cab away from the tree limbs.

Note that when I drive forward the front tires will stay in the gravel, while the cutter is offset to the right.

Actually I have driven crab steer machines, just not in an Ag usage. Now try to get that angle over to 30* or more when you have limited width.

You obviously make good use of your machine, they are not for everyone or all situations, as no machine is. ;)

So I want to get a box blade for my mahindra 4025 4wd. The back of the tractor is almost 7' wide. I was at the dealer the other day and he mentioned I should be looking at 8' wide models so it will Cover my tracks and be able to angle it etc... no I was looking at Web site for everything attachments and there 8' models are rated for tractors 50-75 hp and there 7' models are rated at 30-60hp.....which way should I go?
I will mostly be using it for drivaway work and and for clearing /leveling work on mymy deer food plots. Any advice?

At 8 feet, someone is pushing a sale... At 7 feet, your tractor will get a good workout...
It is the weight of the tractor that will reveil its real usefullness, not its HP rating in the first place.:tractor:

jasonsnova,
The 4025 seems to be a wide tractor for its size, with a width of 90" according to tractordata.com. Considering the tires, weight and hp you have a lighter 8' box blade may be the best fit. I don't think a super heavy duty 8' box blade would be ideal for this tractor as you would have a hard time managing it. Most tractors in this size, weight and hp would be closer to 72" width. I would look for a box blade with a capacity of 25 to 30 cubic ft in the 96" width and about 1000 to 1200 lbs max weight.

xfaxman,
That is a nice machine for sure, it would be a handy addition to have. The crab steer is a handy feature I find most useful on cherry pickers lifting and moving items in tight quarters. Not sure I would need that in field work though.
