how dealers get mad customers

( This morning i called him up and he said " if you were still in the business you could make them up" oh i will now . I brought up the list price question and why so high? "My suppler must have raised it up" righttt
Bottom line a steal at $190.00 Remember to support your dealer)

I'd tell him to stuff his hoses and refuse to pay. If you installed them already, either pull them off or have identical hoses made and return them. Call around - I just had hoses made last week by my local tractor dealer, who is no bargain in general. These were 1/4" R2 hose with 3/8" FJIC fittings. 24" for $18, 50" for $24. Half that on line. 1/2" line will be more, but not a whole lot. Much of the cost is labor, and that stays the same - parts are marginally more expensive for 1/2". I'd expect to pay no more than $30-$35 each for your two hoses.

This thread has burned my butt from day one. I'm a peaceable guy, but rip-off artists like your dealer really get my dander up.

If I were into revenge, I'd get some satisfaction just from knowing that this guy cannot possibly sleep well at night.

I'd still love to see you hand those hoses back to him and get your money back - he doesn't deserve to keep it.

Just my 19,000 cents worth,

John

but in the future, I'd sure want to know what he's going to charge you BEFORE he does anything for you.

For me I would make sure it would be a cold day before I ever did business with him again - and drop him a little line in the mail every time I bought something from his competitor:

"Just a note to let you know - my latest $420 service and parts business went to your competitor since you screwed me over those hoses in the past"

It would be worth the price of a postcard.

Don't get mad - get even.

f he did, he was probably too embarrassed to lower it to the REAL going rate so as not to make him look bad in comparison to the first price. That's still more than double what you should have paid.
I also think that I would have ask for a cost break down.

That's not getting even. Getting even would be to post an ad in the local paper's little ad section. "For Sale -- 2 hydraulic hoses at my cost of $300, just purchased from XYZ tractor supply"

I like your style Doc,
I feel the same way but didn't want to post it that way since he has an account there, close by, etc. and I don't know his past experiences with that dealer.
But yeah, that's what I WAS gonna say. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

THe sad part is i've seen this happen over and over .WE have all said on this site support your dealer ,but it should really be dealers support your customer in every sale There were 3 possable out comes of this
1 he replaces hoses free because bucket was almost new. posting

Geez jpm,
How many hoses have you bought from this guy? When are you gonna learn? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I say present him with #1 if they were almost new and if he doesn't go for that, get a written price from your Napa bros and tell him that's all you'll pay for them.

One thing you have to admit, that dealer has a set to hand you a bill like that. I don't think you could upset him by calling him a crook, you'd have to slap him with his hoses.
