Kubota BX2360
I just got a used BX2360 w/ 200hrs, 60" MMM, FEL, rear wheel weights and a new 3pt 4' box blade and new 5' 3pt rock rake for 13k including tax. I feel pretty happy w/ the deal so hopefully noone tells me I did horrible.

Does anyone have any tips for running this model? Also this is my first "real" tractor, albeit a mini so are there any good tutorials around here as far as greasing and general at home upkeep I could be pointed to? I plan on asking the dealer to explain things and go over that stuff with me but i'd love a reference I could refer to when the time comes. I plan on having the yearly maintenance done by the dealer.

Also lastly the one thing I noticed was it was missing the MMM discharge cover, is there a source online I could find that or is it best to get that from my dealer? Not that I dont trust him but I talked him down about 500 from asking on all this and I don't want him to try and make up for that on a discharge cover, I stupidly forgot about it until I was already down the road otherwise i'd have asked to have it tossed in.

Are you talking about the chute that helps funnel the clippings off to the side? Was this a dealer demo unit or a used one sold "as is"? If a demo, the dealer should make it right. On a used one, if he's a good guy, he might help you out but it shouldn't be that expensive either way.

Others will have more to add, but here's a start... your BX wants to be run with the engine revved up... no putt-putting around at idle. That's because all those hydraulics really don't get enough flow until the engine is turning the hyd. pump pretty fast. Don't worry, the little diesel engine is designed to run at full throttle, unlike most gas engines. You don't need to run it wide-open just for driving around , but I try to be at 1/2 throttle or more most of the time and wind it all the way when mowing.

Next, if you haven't already done so, get some liquid ballast in the rear tires. The FEL can easily lift enough to bring the back end off the ground and you want as much counterweight in back for balance. Put the box blade on the back also, and it helps if you're not some skinny guy with 2% body fat. It's OK if you are; just be extra sure about the other stuff.

Change the fluids and filters regularly. That's a key part of reliability and longevity for equipment like this. No need to pay the dealer to do it; if you're mechanical enough to own and operate one of these little gems, odds are the maintenance is something you can handle also.

Don't drive around with the FEL full and the bucket up high. It's very tippy with the FEL mounted, so keep the bucket low when moving about.

Seat belt... always use the seatbelt. Shouldn't require explanation.

Hi range for most mowing and travelling; low range for any kind of dirt work or heavy pulling.

Dealer should be able to get you an owners manual if one wasn't provided.

Please enjoy and take the time to learn how to operate it effectively. Photos are always welcomed when TBN members get more/new equipment.

Thanks a lot for the good info.

Yes I do mean the chute for the side, I ended up biting the bullet and calling my dealer on the chute and he said they actually already had one ordered and there wouldn't be a charge so that mystery is solved, though I will still for sure take any recommendations on good sites for parts for future reference)

I did read about needing to run at a higher RPM for the kubota's hydraulics and noticed it first hand especially vs the massey but really the engine noise didn't bother me and like you said and I had figured the engines were built to handle running w/ high revs for prolonged amounts of time.

It does come with rear wheel weights and I haven't been skinny w/ 2% body fat since before my birth, but I do plan on also having the box attached when doing loader work.

Welcome to the. Forum! Your deal sounds pretty good to me but all that really matters is that you are happy. You've got a great tractor that will give you years of service. As for maintenance and operation tips you should get the operators manual and give that a read. The discharge cover is most likely only available from Kubota so it's the dealer or one of the on line parts suppliers. A lot of people here use Messick's for on line kubota parts.

Three things to remember.....

1.). Keep your load low and travel slow

2.) counter weight in the rear for stability

3.) the hydro pedal is not like a gas pedal in your car. If the tractor starts to bog let up, don't push down further. It's not linked to the throttle.

Good luck and post pictures!

Be sure to have a manual for the tractor, MMM and FEL, essential as far as learning to opperate and pretty much what Grandad4 said.

Ahhhhh awesome link man thanks a million thats just what I was looking for. I can usually handle some small service but I wasnt sure about tackling the project on something so new to me without some good how to's and you have provided!

It looks like most of the manuals can be downloaded online so I plan on printing those out if the dealer doesn't come up with them.

Messick's has been very good for parts and very knowledgeable as well. It sounds like your dealer is a stand up kind of outfit... wouldn't hurt to get to know their parts guys also. If you take good care of your BX, you shouldn't need much in the way of repair parts. Ours has not needed a single "fix it" item in 8 years and 800 hours.

One thing not covered in the manuals is that the fluid in the front differential needs to be checked again after a few hours after a change as it takes a while for it to fill all nooks and crannies.
