How did you first discover Kubota?

A brother in law bought a larger I think "B" series way back in the mid 80's. He used it to mow his 3 acres with a MMM. Never heard him say a bad thing about it and was usually boasting. He is one of those guys that doesn't take care of anything. If it aint broke.....you get the idea. He used and abused the thing for about 20 years and says he only changed the oil a few times and sharpened the blades.

My thought is if it treats him that well neglected, mine should last forever.

I had a house in the city with a problem (pool) in the back yard. Finally decided the best solution was to fill the hole in with something besides money. My brother knew a guy who was selling a B6200 front wheel assist with FEL, 3pt snowblower and some other assorted junk that I had to take if I wanted the tractor. I knew nothing about Kubotas but on inspection it looked sturdy and well cared for. My plan was to fill the pool, landscape the yard and sell the tractor. The first part worked as planned. I had the B6200 for 13 years and when I decided I needed (wanted) bigger, better, faster, stronger I went directly to the Kubota dealer and bought a B7610 HST.
No regrets.

I got a ride on I think an L185 2wd Kubota when I was a kid, aound '73. Dad's friend brought it over to disc our back yard.

I got my B8200 about 10 years ago.I had trashed a used lawn tractor around our 5 acres, and needed something. Happened the first tractor dealer I went to, had a tractor that met my needs, that I could afford for cash. Happened to be Kubota. I was not looking for a brand; I wanted something that met my needs for the cash I had available.

I still am not really brand loyal. My Kubota though, has "takin a licking and kept on tickin". It's been a good tractor for the 700 or so hours I have put on it(it is a mid 80's model, and still only has 1077 hours...

I've owned a B7100HSD with a 60" MMM since 96 and it's been a joy. We've been through some droughts and my grass isn't the thickest so I only have 145 hours on her but I've enjoyed every minute. We're buying a larger place and looking at the B3030.

A B6100 Kubota was the first tractor I learned to drive back when I was a kid.
Present day, now in my late 30's, I needed a tractor to take the pressure off my ride-on mower. I used that White ride-on waaaay beyond its capabilities and seemed to spend more and more time fixing it than actually using it. I started looking at compact tractors and straight away I know I wanted to have a B series Kubota again.
Eventually I found what I was looking for, a B7100, and it is absolutely perfect for my needs. One tough little bull.

A friend of mine who is very astute, practical, analytical, observant, and cheap recommended one to me...

An Uncle of mine traded in his late 40's Allis Chalmers B for a Kubota L2250 back in 1985 because he needed something with a 3PH. He was criticized by some of his friends for buying a "Jap tractor". Well, he still has it and exercises it regularly. It's been virtually trouble-free for 23 years despite not exactly being well maintained. Now they seem to be everywhere, including the barns of some of his former critics. So when my wife and I bought our home on a couple acres a few years ago, there was simply no other option worth considering. Several of our neighbors have Kubotas, some have more than one, ranging from BX's all the way up to M-series machines. In our corner of the country other colors just don't seem to be as numerous until you get into full-size ag tractors.

You being from Ohio probably remember the Debartolo malls. A buddy of mine back in the late 70's (I think it was) worked in maintenance for EJD and they had 4WD Kubota's for clearing snow and grounds work at the malls and plaza's. He used to rave about how they never got stuck and they beat the crap out of them and they kept going.

Mid 90's I rented several Kubota (B21 maybe?) 4WD's and was amazed how much work a smaller machine could do compared to the old early 60's 2WD Ford I grew up with in our family home building business.

Hurricanes in Florida mid 2000's gave me the excuse why "I needed" a better machine and how it would be easy to mow with and take less fuel etc...it worked, I now have a B2410 with FEL and Turf Special deck.....my B2410 Turf Special...which does now have turf tires and was a tax expense.

I wouldn't have criticized him for buying aKubota. But to let go of a classic AC-B, well... :D That would have just had to stay around.

My Kubota is a great tractor. But, it sure aint got the style and character of my Farmall-A.

I asked him the same thing. He said they offered him too much in trade to pass up the deal! Just goes to show how much value old iron can retain.

First saw them in the 70's as a teen, those little mini jap tractors. Hard to miss in orange. Never thought I'd own one.
