My neighbor who is a heavy machine repairman came over. You know how you over engineer things. He said he would whip up a couple of tabs at the shop for me. he said he would make the end that attaches to the tank a bit shorter. I would lay these over the other tabs and weld them down. I need to go buy a longer bolt..

Seems like a logical solution. Thoughts? I mean I would love to attempt to fill with some welding rod and all that sort of stuff but in the end, this seems to resolve the issue immediatly and in a way I might be able to handle more or less on my own.

Yep, on a simple piece to make like that bracket, making a new one is the easy way.

the copper pope works, but isnt the best for a "pin" hole without doing some final machine work afterwords. IE: use a SMALLER piece of copper than needed, then do a final bore to size. Because where the copper holds the weld back wont be a smooth area, and will wear the pin out quickly.

But works great for other holes that dont have a pin that rotates in them.

Boring the whole hole oversized is another good solution, allthough not in your case. Given the severity of the wear, keeping the center of the hole where it is and to go large enough to get back to "true, you would have little to no material left to support the bushing.

Copper Pope. There is a joke in there somewhere and I can't find it.

In all seriousness LD, thanks for confirming my copper idea has legs. Yeah, the bushing idea never worked in my estimation. The location of this whole setup is beyond my drilling equipment skill set.

The support for the bolt is going to be farther apart. I hope the bolt doesn't bend from the hyd cyl force.

I would have no qualms using a PC to make the hole acceptable to weld a bushing in but sounds like you have a solution in place.

Is the cylinder end greasable? Did the pin seize in the cyl end and THEN wallow out the tabs? You'll want to make sure that doesn't happen again if so. Maybe tack the pin in place to where you could grind the weld out if it failed again, or bent as another poster mentioned. That way you'd know when it got tight. Though I don't suppose you'll let that zerk go unnoticed again.
Good luck with it.

No Zerks on these particular eye connections. We have to spray them with Teflon lube.

If no zerk there, this is a good time to remedy that.
