How do I reinstall a hydraulic cylinder

Yep the first movements when operating the cylinder can be abrupt and unpredictiable from the air in the cylinder. That is why I recommended the safer way of pinning both ends before operating the cylinder.
I have done both ways. On very large clyinders I use the pin one end , plumb it and then use the system pressure to move it , on smaller ones I usually pin and then plumb.

Thanks to everyone, Once I got the top of the cylinder pinned I was able to move it by hand so I just rotated it and pulled it into position it worked like a champ. Once I got the cylinder pinned so that I had hyd power to the loader again I raised it up and blocked it because Kubota still owed me a battery, the original leaked acid often so I kept having to wash it until a new one came in, apparently you can't get a big Kubota battery by itself (you have to buy a tractor along with it) in the states so they had ordered it (Thankgiving weekend) I gave up on it and finally pitched a bi*ch about it as well with all the other grief they were giving me on the cylinder I figured I might as well get it all out of my system at once. The branch manager not only got the service dept to fix my cylinder he also had them remove the battery from a M9000 that had just come in. So for now I'm a happy camper just hoping that my 200hr svc thats coming up goes smoothly or I'll be seeing green or blue instead of orange.

Actually, If I had my way my Tractor would be Texas A&M Maroon and not any varient of orange but as time has passed since college I'm a little more lenient on the colors of my vehicles. Steve
