How do I send a fax from Office Depot?

Could you explain the process and costs involved in sending a fax from Office Depot, and why might it be advantageous to use a mobile fax app instead?

I use the Notes app on my phone to scan and send documents. I do it all the time for work.

I honestly dont know why anyone even uses faxes any more. But its easy, you hand the counter person the paper to be sent, give them the phone number, and pay the few bucks for the service. I had to do this a few times for a bank when purchasing a property. The last time i sold a property, everything was docusigned online. I trashed my fax machine probably 10 years ago…….never used it.

Personally I have not used a FAX in about 25 years.... Do a scan from my printer/scanner make a PDF file or do a "print" to PDF and just attach it to a email it....

I not sent a fax in 18 years, but some banks definitely required a scanned facsimile of the actual page. Just go upto the Office Depot counter and send your fax....you will be assisted if needed. Cost is $1.49 first page and $1.29 every additional page.

I read up on faxes after seeing this thread. I was surprised to discover that faxing was still even a thing! Mostly financial, legal, and medical. My wife is a nurse, but in her circles technology has adopted various secure methods of patient charting and communication over the internet that are HIPPA compliant.

There are multiple on-line places that you can send a very limited number of faxes for free; you upload a pdf and give it the destination and off it goes.
If you have paper that needs to go, scan it (our printer won't print any more because we don't print enough but it still scans) and do it online, or walk in to staples/office depot. At our staples there's some self-service units that you just walk up to, tap to pay and follow the screen directions (how I print an occasional shipping label, fedex won't let me give them an address to ship?).

my issue with using an online fax service is security. About the only entities that still use fax are government, financial (less so these days finally!) and medical. The 3 things where you actually care about security. Had to fax the gov PII/SPI not too long ago.

To find an income based apartment in Minnesota for my mom and her husband that lived in Arizona we had to fax the paperwork. I don’t know how else we would have did it.

Every once in a while you will come across something that has to be faxed and photocopied or pdf is not acceptable. Often for places that want a hard print of your signature. For those times places like Staples and Office Max work good. I had to fax a signed document a couple of years ago and my local hardware store did it for free.
