how do you change the time on a Kubota stereo?

Ok, so I've figured out PTOs, difflocks, attaching/detaching implements, and all sorts of new things required to use a tractor.

The one thing I can't figure out is how to change the time on the Kubota factory stereo. Manual claims that if I press and hold the display button, the hours will start to flash. It doesn't specify how long you have to press and hold - I gave up after a minute.

Given the noise level of a tractor, the clock seems to be the most useful feature of the stereo - would be nice to have it tell me the right time

I don't have a Kubota radio.
With some other radios if you hold the display button and press the volume button that would adjust hrs. Pressing the tuning button would adjust minutes.
Maybe yours works this way.

Agreed - this stereo has a volume knob, but unfortunately pressing and holding the display button and turning the volume knob, despite what the manual says, changes the volume, not the time.

I called the dealer yesterday - they're not sure either, but they're investigating.

Ironically, my "real" job (when I'm not playing with the tractor) is to make products easier to use. There's actually an entire profession focused on this, although most people have never heard of it. I never had until after I want to school to become an engineer, which is what I thought I wanted to be when I grew up.

I spent 5 years early in my career designing the user interfaces to stereos, and I've figured out how to use 100s of different stereos over the years.

This is the first one I haven't been able to crack.

Maybe it's time to call in my 7 year old....

Check what time it's displaying currently......... disconnect the positive battery till said time. Reconnect positive battery cable ???

I know in one of my cars, you cant change time on radio unless it was off. Another car I had it doesnt matter if on or off. You just need to find the right combination of settings on radio to change time. I beleive you had the radio on and it should have been off since you said volume changes, but doesnt change time.

Yup. Usually the stereo has to be off, and the key on. Otherwise you just fighting yourself.

right, in every car i've ever owned, that works. with this stereo, problem is that as soon as i start to try to change time, stereo turns back on.

dealer is stumped too - i'll try removing power to the stereo to reset it as suggested earlier - that often works wonders for all sorts of electronic devices....

Let me know what brand & model # your unit is. I've managed to set the time on mine but I'll have to sit in the tractor and refresh my memory.

My truck radio you can set the time, radio on or off.

Can you post a pic of the face plate.
