I tire roll and use the box blade angled all the way on the back blade, and run over it about 20 times. Works fairly well. I was looking for a vibe roller attachment and it seems they are not made.

I was also looking at the lawn rollers you fill with water at tractor supply, and the cultipacker at everything attachments.

I am doing a lot of driveways and parking lots right now.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I was also looking at the lawn rollers you fill with water at tractor supply,These do work quite good as I have used them before. TSC has them in different sizes and weights I think they are the best for compacting.

I use my small dump truck to tire roll. I have 65 psi in front and 55 psi in the dual rears and it works pretty good empty but I try to use it with a load on and it really works. I pack a couple times with passes with the grader/scraper in between to get a flat packed surface.

Vibraplate walk behind compactors do a good job on sand and gravel. For heavier soils you need a Wacker Packer or jumping jack as we call them for congested areas. If you have a large area, then a sheeps foot roller is the way to go. If you are doing commercial work you should really have a heavy vibratory roller to compact long driveways. You can get pretty good results with a skid plate type vibrator but it will be slow. Anything less and you will be screwing your customer over since without good compaction, a drive way is not going to hold up. Moisture control must be monitored to do a good job also, too much water or too little and the compaction will not be adequate. TOO much water and the material will hump on you. You can observe this with a heavy loaded dump truck for instance, if you see the soil "humping to the sides of the tires then it has too much moisture. To little and it just fluffs back up after compaction. Vibratory rollers are available at most rental places.
