I would like to get away from lifting the tank and placing it on the hood. A gallon a minute is too slow for me, I bet you can do the same with a much larger hose and cut your time in half.
I like the idea of the boat transfer pump but lifting the wet pump hoses cables out of the tank I think will make a mess over time.
Right now I have two plastic yellow diesel cans.
I think they are 5 gals each not 6 as I wrote earlier.
My tank size on the B3030 is 8 gals, So I can just empty the diesel can and not worry about overfilling. Then I have the other diesel can in reserve.
The cheap battery pumps are nice but still dealing with dripping diesel after a while everything gets covered. I would rather pay for a nice quality well built pump with a quality hose and nozzle but I want it to be portable.
The 55 or 100 gals outside tanks are the best with the gas station nozzle and meter. But I don't want to pay up to 500.00 at one time to fill them.
I have yet to see the cats *** in a portable container with a quality hose and pump.
Until then I guess the big funnel with the add on plastic vent that was posted earlier will be better then what I doing now.
It would be nice to only remove the cap on the diesel can to fill it.
Take the cap off the tractor place the nozzle in and fill then hook the hose on the can, no pulling things out of the diesel can.

You slip the long end into the fuel jug, stick the short end in the tank. Close the valve, squeeze the primer bulb 3 or 4 times until it fills with fuel, then open the valve and wait about 5 minutes for the can to empty. If the tank won't hold the full can, simply close the ball valve to stop the siphon action.
The hardest part is lifting the 5 gallon can up to the hood, and I can manage that with no problems. It was the balancing act holding it waiting for it to empty that was tricky.
I've probably transferred 300 gallons of fuel with this so far, and it works like a charm.
