How Do You Get To 8F/4R.??

Hmmm.??.... I went back and read all the posts. Seems this tranny still has problems with reverse speeds.

My JD770 has 8F/2R. I have a new 3pt. blower this year and I am anxious to see how well the gears will handle speed. I like the L2800 because it has more "options" in reverse but may be a tad fast still.??

Anyone out there running a rear blower with the 8F/4R set up.??

I drove my neighbors JD tractor and it had R,1,2,3,4 plus A, B, C so that would be 3 choices for each gear wich would make 12 forward and 3 reverse I would mostly back in RA but it was fairly slow but once in a while I would back in RB and if I wasn't careful on the clutch I would be thrown forward in the seat cause of the different speed. It was like night and day.

I doubt you'll have any problems with reverse speed, 1 and 2 are fairly slow even in reverse. Power may be an issue depending on how wide the blower is. The 2800 gives you about 26 hp at the PTO. The 3400 or 3700 are the same size as the 2800, although the 3700 is only available in HST, or so I'm told.

There may be a new Kubota offering in this HP/size range this year if rumours are true.

It sounds like the L2800 is going to be replaced by an L3200.
