How do you heat your barn/shop?

/ How do you heat your barn/shop? #41
The cost of running the heat through the floor for me was about $250 for 1/2" pex, 1500' of line

Taco pump, $100

Mixer valve, $200

12 valve log manifold, $100

My wood boiler heats my house and hot water too, so I dont count that in the cost to heat my barn

I don't know if it has been suggested but you can often find cheap wood stoves on craigslist. There are also some on ebay, but that is hit or miss.

I friend gave me his old wood/coal furnace for my 30X40X14 insulated garage. It does a great job heating to the point I work out there in a T-shirt,

I heat a 70 by 30 shop in the cold northeast with an old oil fired forced air furnace. Only turn it on when I'm working and 50 degrees is fine for me. Doesn't burn much.

An aside...

I don't burn enough oil for an annual fill up so here's my twist. The 275 gallon tank that feeds the furnace also has a hand crank pump on it. I fill my tractor and dozer from the same tank. It's so convenient, and don't need to discuss whether or not to run my machines on heating oil -- it's the same stuff. The tank is outside so if the fuel was going to gel, it would gel in the filter or line to the furnace. The furnace draws from lower down in the tank than the pumps does, so the machine fuel is as clean or cleaner. Never had any problems with either. No additives.
