How do you skid logs with your tractor..pics?

Northern tool 2" 3pt rcvr and log tongs on a JD 750 4x4. I've since upgraded tractors, but the log dragging setup still works great.

Where can ya get those tongs? Do they have the sharp hooks on the end like the ones above on that arch thing?

That's the setup I want. Seems like the bbom pole may be too long that it wants to keep the fron wheels off the ground.

So there's only the u-bolt looking thing hooked to the top link and then the grapple...and there's something else there that I can't make out?

I looked up 2" 3-pt reciever on NT and couldn't come up with anything. Anybody know what that thing would be called?

I will add (more seriously) that the tong thing and the grapple method is pretty handy, but just remember that you need to be able back right up to the wood. I am forced to use a logging winch because of my terrain. Sometimes I need to use a snatch block to pull around corners too.....

But if you are working on land with easy access you can save $2000-$4000 by not buying a winch. I like the idea of the logging arch for the larger sticks. They even work pretty good with ATVs.

The u bolt thing is called a Shackle . It looks like there is a straight bar into the receiver and the shackle is bolted through it.

OK, OK, e-nuff with the jokes.
I added a cedar fence post to the pic for effect, didn't have any logs handy!
I'd recommend you get the small tongs. The large ones (like I have) require me to lift the 3pt hitch up to max hieght to clear some stumps.

Do you have a rear hydraulic port to use with a powered one? Someone here on TBN posted their homemade 3PH grapple that used two box blade scarfiers for arms, closing tip to tip. If anyone knows where that is, could you post it?

I have a couple of hooks from antique Peevee's (I think thats what those log turners were called.) I think (if I can find them) I can make those work at the end of a chain, unless I can make a pole secure to my box scraper
Hmmm-might mistake that for a trawler boat.

The one problem I have towing logs is front end gets real light if I lift a heavy load from the rear with that box scraper weight also (on a tiny Kabota)
