I appreciate the link about the dollies, but I don't currently have time to build one. I just want to set the backhoe on the floor for this winter. Sounds like I don't need to do anything special from the other replies.

I also use a dollie for my backhoe. Space is at a premium in my shop and being able to move it around was a necessity.
The only bleed down problems I've had was with the outriggers so I hold them up with a strong bungee cord.

ok, the backhoe is parked for Winter. Since it was so high
off the ground, and likely to leak down, I put come blocks and
bricks under it. See attached.

Is there something under the pivot too?

Left CMU block needs to be painted to match the right one /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

yes, there is another block in the back that you cannot see. And if you are referring to the "white" coloring on the right block, that is not paint, it's snow! But what is CMU? Sounds like Central Michigan University.

You are a brave man - just wait until your wife gets around to doing the laundry ... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I didn't have time to build dollies either. So I picked these up at one of the box stores. Not shown is a motorcycle tie down strap I run from one leg to the other to keep it from leaking down over time. It doesn't take much to take the strain off.

When my wife and I met, we each had our own homes and therefore each had a washer and dryer. Those are hers, that we're saving as spares for when mine die.

ok, I searched on CMU and found "Concrete Masonry Unit"; that's a new term to me! They've always been "concrete blocks" around here.

Seems like nowadays everything has to have a fancy set of initials. Some folks just like to keep others confused. What the army used to call a bazooka is now an RPG (rocket propelled grenade). The military almost has its own secret language for everything from weapons to food. When you eat in the field you get an MRE (meal ready to eat).

In your field of computers, we deal with URLs, CPUs, USBs, and I'd have a hard time if I had to know all the sets of initials you probably have to know as a programmer. Trying to understand a doctor can be a nightmare.

In days gone by they'd at least turn sets of initials into an acronym: laser= light amplification by the stimulated emission of radiation, radar = radio detection and ranging, blimp = type B limp balloon (as opposed to dirigible with rigid frame), posh = port outbound / starboard home (cruise liner passengers who knew the best side of the ship to be on). Today we don't get a word, just a set of letters. Today, specialists in any field seem to speak their own language that others can't understand.
