How do you store your diesel?

I built a wood stand 6' tall and placed one of those 300 gal plastic food grade containers on it. This all sit just inside the door of my barn. I plumbed it with the proper fuel line and filter with drain and shut off. Its a great set up that cost me less than $150. My delivery people will add a service charge if you get less than 150 gals. I do as the others have stated and add power serve to my fuel. Some times I get B20 but last time it was more. B5 was also more so I just went with straight diesel.

My guy also has gas but it is more than the gas station and the kerosene is also a little more. I dont use much gas, maybe 25 gals a year and only about 15 gallons of kerosene so there is no need to get it this way.

The last time I filled my tank it was $2.39 per gallon. I got 250 delivered and spent another $15 on the power serve additive. Much cheaper and more convenient.

Mine is stored in 10,000 gallon underground tanks...at the gas station.

My diesel pickup visits there on a regular basis so I just get fuel in a can while I'm fueling the truck.

There are some advantages to this. First, it's always the correct fuel for the season and second, it's fresh although that is a relative term not as nearly as important as buying fresh gas or being 'in season'.

But it cost more

Mine will top off my 30 gallon barrel anytime they are in my area making other deliveries/no extra charge.

i don't use mine enough to invest in any kind of elaborate fueling station. i've only got 35 or so hours on it and bought it about the time i joined this site.

i'm so jealous of some of you.

I have a 10 gallon I bought awhile back. Works ok but I've only used it for gasoline. Full it is heavy and awkward to move around. Instead of the one handle on top it should have had one on each end, try picking up 100 lbs with one hand and moving it
I'm not confident in how long the clear hose will last either...in my experience the clear plastic hoses harden up after some exposure to fuel...we'll see.

I use a 500 gallon overhead stored outside and a 100 gallon bedtank with a fillrite pump. Minimum delivery here is 300 gallons. I completely drain the 500 before filling to get out any accumulated moisture.

I've got a 500 gal tank that I've had for about 12 years. My useage varies depending on the projects I've got going on and equipment I have at the time. I have Goldenrod double filter on the line coming out of the tank. One standard filter and one water block. I change my tank filters with every new tank of fuel or once a year which ever comes first. I very seldom use more than 500 gallons in one year anymore. I think my total useage in the last 12 years has been about 6500 gallons. Sometimes I go along time without using any fuel (months)depending on how busy I am with my regular job. I have owned 3 JD tractors, 3 Cat track skid steers a Cat D3G dozer and a Cat 308CCR excavator. I've heard people say fuel will go "bad", but I have NEVER experience any fuel related problems with the machines I've owned. I think keeping the fuel clean coming out of the tank is the key to not having fuel problems. 6500 gallons with ZERO fuel problems.............I must be doing something right. Keeping each machines fuel filters changed when needed is also an important part of not having fuel problems.

They don't. I just call in and they make up a route out if the orders. Since going with this company 2 days is the longest I've ever had to wait. Most of the time its the next morning, but has been the same day many times. Their truck is a 2000 or 2500 rig with seperate compartments for each delivery. They handle propane orders the same way. By far the easiest fuel company I have ever dealt with.
