I think that the atmosphere is not finiite in that the gasses don't go there and stay there forever. If that were so, the volcanic activity alone should have killed this world a long time ago. I think that from time to time gasses which affect climate rise and fall and that the weather will change depending on which cycle we are on.
Now I don't think it's bad to try to limit our exhaust emissions but since it is being used politically what is expected is pushed and pushed until the goals become ridiculous. This seems to be true of just about every political group out there. Ride an issue until there is no more to be gained from it regardless if what is being asked doesn't make sense.
