I have the 7308 loader w/ the valve up by the steering wheel & not the mount on the right fender. What are the positions of the joystick & what does it do? Does the joystick only go in a straight line & like all the way forward is bucket dump but what position will curl the bucket upward? I want to know before I try to hook it up for the 1st time since I don't have any instructions. My Case FEL joystick movese forward/ backward & left/right but this NH FEL doesn't seem like it moves left & right & just moves in a straight line. This seems confusing to me I guess since I'm not used to it yet.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Jim

without looking at my tc30 that sounds like what i've got. the stick should move forward (lower boom), rearward (raise boom), left (curl bucket up), right (dump bucket), right a little bit more (quickly dump bucket). if it doesn't move forward, back, left, right something is wrong.

Yep! What Monte said. . . and you should have a diagram on a decal somewhere close to the joystick that shows the movements and expected results. Also, some joysticks have a lock for the fwd/rev position so you can keep the loader arms from lifting or falling, but I have never seen a lock in the curl/dump (side to side) movement. Perhaps you need to remove the dust boot at the bottom of your joystick and apply some spray lube to the ball joints and mechanics. It sure sounds like something is gummed up or there is a hydraulic lock causing the joystick to not move. Probably not a hydraulic lock, but I'd shut of the engine and then see if the joystick could be moved just to prove that it wasn't a pressure problem.

I took off the valve cover & I saw the other valve w/ linkage so PB Blaster it w/ a hammer & block of wood, it was really stuck & would not budge. Well it budges now. I had to work it for quite a while now it's all good.
Thanks guys.

Maybe someone only used it with a snow blade or something that did not require the curl circuit? Otherwise it set a long time? Otherwise very odd!

It was new in the crate but sat for years so some parts looked brand new like the stickers but other parts were faded & rusted.

Now I think I have my hoses backwards or something, can someone please answer, if you pull the joystick all the way, straight back does it lift or lower the loader? Mine lowers the loader when I pull the joystick straight back. My Case 580 is the exact opposite & it would lift the loader. Thanks for any input. This is a little tough w/o directions. When I push it to the left it curls the bucket & to the right dumps the bucket now that exacty the same as my Case 580 so I think I have this hooked up correctly.

Yep, your bucket lift hoses are swapped. If you have quick connects, swapping the hoses makes this an easy fix. Color code your quick connects with red, green, blue, and yellow paint on matching fittings or install matching dust covers with similar colors for easy reference when hooking up lines.

Your are the greatest. Thanks so much for all your help. I had to try like 5 combinations until I got it to operate correctly. I finally used it but now my next problem is the bottom of the joystick ball that hooks into a hole in a small lever mechanisim for the valve, the ball keeps popping out of its hole when I move the lever to the far right. I'm thining of welding on a couple of really thick washers so that the ball cant jump out of it's hole unless you or someone else has any other suggestions.

Thanks again so very much.

Jim :)

I think the illustration below is your valve. Can you tell us what parts you are having problems with? If it is not the valve, then a photo would sure help.

I like your design much better because your item 38 is a nut that would hold the lever, onto the mechanism I believe. Mine doesn't have a nut but is a ball & socket type of design where essentially the bottom of the lever is the ball & fit's into a hole in the mechanism. I welded 2 thick washer together & it seems to be working & keeping the ball from poping out of the socket so I cant take a picture because you won't be able to see anything since the washers are in the way. I can't take it apart until it breaks again.
