I agree that there is a safety factor to consider. I live in a heavy farming area and between tractors and amish buggies, there are regularly some serious accidents between them and automobiles...

I would think you should be able to find someone who would haul it for you for a couple hundred bucks. That's what I would do. I wouldn't want to put that kind of wear and tear on my tractor tires or the hours on my tractor.
X2.
Ive seen people drive large tractors 20-30 miles by road. Not something I want to do with mine.

43 mile in 3-4 hours ... Means that you will have average of about 10-12 mile an hour .... That is miserable...

Buy or rent trailer...... Seat time is horrible and think of all the road rage you will generate from people trying to commute down the road.....
Agreed, especially if the road is anything but glass smooth. Every fall I do some trail mowing for our snowmobile club. Getting to one of the trail sections involves a ~3 mi. "commute" via an old abandoned rail bed (tracks are gone, some rotted ties remain). Man, that gets fatiguing driving a vehicle with no suspension and implements on front (FEL) and back (bushhog).
If you go the "commute" route, make sure you check your state's laws regarding ag equipment on public roads. Some may require you to register it.

Hadn't though about a roll back... Hmmm. Gonna check that idea out and cost it out. Gotta measure the overall length with the disc to see if its feasible.

I found a trailer to rent via neighborstrailer.com and a 3/4 ton truck to haul it from the rental its now down to about $250 or so for the day. More doable. The trade off is the seat time of approx 6 + hrs and as mentioned safety. I would have to travel down a few heavily used roads to get to my place or add about 45 more mins each way minimum to dodge them for any length of time.

Thanks for the feedback. We'll see when it gets closer to time to get out there.

Yep, if you could find a reasonable route that was 99% backroads, then why not try it if you've got the time. Going on the side of busy highway makes it pretty dangerous though even if you are 100% on the shoulder, or if the shoulder isn't wide enough.

Maybe find a small used harrow or disc and pull it behind your JD 1445 - it should have enough HP to pull a small 5' or so implement.

Amish are a joke around here. Their tractors spend more time on the road than in a field. They like the high speed Fendt tractors pulling a cargo trailer, but they can't drive cars.

Bringing my tractor home from the auction was driving over 6 hours through the Alleghany Mountains. Great time to see how my purchase would hold up. She was a little rough. Dumping antifreeze and hydraulic oil.
When I was doing custom work my furthest job was 2 hours. Did those jobs twice a year for about 5 years. A one time thing, do it if you need to. I wouldn't make a habit of it.
