How far to the nearest grocery store?

Nearest Grocery, an IGA, is 12 miles away. Wal-Mart, Sams Club and Menards Lumber yard 17 miles

Local country convenient store only 2 miles. Mini market, Plumbing supplies, Ammo, Bait, Etc.... They have Diesel and Gas too. Drove my Farmall B down to get it gassed once. Including some minor chat time at the market, the round trip took 2 hours! All up hill most of the way back in 1st gear.

2 hours for a 4 mile roundtrip gives an average speed of 2 mph....darn slow. Next time shift that B into Mexican overdrive on the way to the store and see how that affects your average speed, not to mention saving you some gas money....:laughing:

2 1/2 miles from convenience store, 8-9 miles from town, mall, groceries etc.
15-20 miles from Walmart. I dont shop there so I dont care.
12-15 miles from Lowes and Menards.

As the crow flies:

0.87 miles to hardware store
1.04 miles to fire station/gas station/convenience store/drugstore/future hospital - trauma center (under construction)
3.50 miles to super wally world/Home Depot
2.90 miles to supermarket
3.02 miles to Harbor Freight
5.37 miles to mall/Whole Foods (where we shop the most)
18 miles to downtown Philadelphia.

Yeah, so we are spoiled...

BUT...Tractor Supply is 16.95 miles away...

Yeah CTF you are spoiled, and that remark you made about the crow flying makes me wonder if you are giving us actual road mileage from your home to those places. Like, the local Meijers I visit is exactly 3.1 miles away as the crow flies. But I have to go .50 miles south, turn right, go 2.9 miles west then .80 miles north and then .20 miles east to get there. Since my name is not Mr. Crow, the distance is actually 4.4 miles.

Yes, as the crow flies is not the "driving mileage"...It would take too long to calculate that...

Nearest grocery is 4 miles, one my wife shops is 6. TSC is 4 miles, farm co-op is 6. An interstate convenience store is 1 mile, a decent one and nearest fast food joint is 4. All that is in addition to the 1 mile drive out of my property.

All road miles, not crow. Since the crows I see fly jagged paths, I'm not sure how good they are for measure anyway.

When we moved to the home we have lived in for 40 years the distance was over 10 miles. Now we have a Walmart and Meijers within 3 and 5 miles.

Wow, these distances really surprise me. Things are SO CLOSE.

Currently food,fuel and the "country store" is about two miles away.

For the big box stores, grocery, hardware and WalMart, the nearest is about 19 miles away. Then the fun starts. After 19 miles, depending on which way one goes, I'd say within a forty mile radius from my house, I have at LEAST 15 WalMarts.

I can get to anything within 1/2 an hour ride. Including schools and hospitals.

My county has done an excellent job of denying the "pro-growth" advocates over the years.
