How fast can your tractor go the road or street?

This one was supposedly clocked at 55mph w/ throttle to spare. I think at that speed the ride must have been really exciting.

Yes that is true I have a John Deere 3120 that does go 23.6 mph. and 25 mph on flat paved highway.I was stopped just a last week at my local wal-mart by the city police and he clock me at 24mph and wanted me to keep under 15 mph. he was telling me that by law I have can not go any faster then 20 mph. If I go faster then 20 mph I have to have a plate on the back.

I think the manual for my 6100 says something like 8MPH (top gear, max RPM). It's definitely in the single digits anyway. And yes, the brake pedals lock together.

Must be something local or the (draconian) state/ republic you live in. I'm not aware of anything other than the posted speed limit concerning a vehicle traveling sown a road. While I don't often see a tractor that can excede the speed limit, the GC I work for ( county road dept does too! ) frequently will run a pan or motor grader down t he road.. they can get into the mid 30's in 6th gear... I've been there.. and it is a white knuckle ride if it is a bad road..... however.. in the 16 years I've been with that company not one piece of our offroad equipment has ever been stopped.
Glad i live in a state where the citizens have a few rights and liberties still left....

HEre in our (rather backwoods) state, you must have a DRIVERS license to operate anything that exceeds 25 MPH. That was intended to prevent kids from ripping through the streets on hopped up scooters.
I got to spend a week operating a CAT 627B twin engine pan a few summers back. That was a hair raising experience when I floorboarded the throttle in high gear. Last time I TRIED to run a grader, I never even managed to get it moving. Talk about too many levers and pedals!
