How healthy do you think you are..

I wear glasses and take a few meds, but I can do whatever I need to do, and I can do it all day long. I'm blessed to be able to build my own house; working on that project now. I had a nuclear stress test not long ago and came through with a great report. That's quite a relief since every day I live I set new records in my family for not having a heart attack. It seems the rest of the brood is prone to heart disease. I found a great doctor who specializes in preventing heart disease and he looks way beyond the typical cholesterol and lipids and such. He identified the culprit in my blood that leads to heart disease in my family and prescribed a treatment plan to take care of that.

Fifty two and loving life. Four kids and two grands, so far.

There's an old joke that asks "know why the farmer lives longer than the city slicker?"

answer: "he wants to":)

Hope all remain healthy for the coming years.

Well..........I built my new 3000 sq ft horse barn completely by myself year before last and cleared my fenceline and put up 3000' of field fence. After Katrina last year, I again cleared the fenceline, cutting and removing 60 large trees that were down, one 15' around. Then rebuilding the 3000' fence again. Put a new roof on my house, my garage, my rental house, my shop and my old barn. (all by myself) Tore down 2 building that trees fell on, replaced a couple of small(150') chain link fences, renovated our bathroom and I still work part time. I ride my bicycle a few miles on the levee every now and then. I take care of and train my 5 horses. Day before yesterday while I was breaking my 2 year old, my neighbor went by on his dang 4 wheeler and spooked him and made him throw me. Got back on, rode him another half hour and quit for the day. Woke a little sore yesterday and went out and cut 8 more trees in a pasture I am clearing. Take no medicine except for an occasional Advil. I'm 5'9", 165 pounds with a little beer belly and have over half of my original hair. My aunt died last year at 104 and she took care of herself till she was 100. I have lost some of my friends to cancer over the last 10 years but I know quite a few people my age who are healthier than me. I'm 61. But it doesn't matter how long you live, just how long you enjoy living.

PS The only thing that makes me feel old is when I hear some darn 49 year old kid complaining about getting old.

You'll live to be 100 too. My FIL still used his chainsaw at 87 and hunted that year. He passed away on his 88th birthday. What a good life he had. Always worked out in the fields and woods. Went fishing and hunting whenever he could. He never sat around whining or rotting away.

A little South Texas philosophy of life and living:

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body; but rather to skid in broadside, a glass of 18 year old Glen in one hand - a Cohiba Exquisito in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, wearing a grin and loudly proclaiming, "Sonuvabitch --What a Ride!!"

It isn't how long you live, but the quality of the life you live. I know of cantankerous old folks that are just too mean to die. I read an article the other day that says that how long you live depends on how old your mother was when you were born. That is the way it worked on both my parents siblings. The youngest died first and the oldest died last. No matter how old you are when you die, life is still just too short. This Death Calculator is meant more for entertainment purposes, and I hope that what it has predicted for me will come true. I still have a long life ahead of me.:D
