I have a pasture grass lawn for the most part, Bermuda, Bahia and Dallas grass. I set the mower pretty low, just about 1" clearance for the anti-scalping wheels. In the spring it has to be mowed about every 4 days. I do fertilize it in the spring with triple 13 fertilizer simply because that is a common compound found at my farmers coop and it works for lawn, garden and fruit trees. My soil is pretty poor when it comes to nutrients for growing anything other than weeds so it needs the fertilizer. I also put out about 400# of lime per acre. I only fertilize and lime the lawn that the sprinkler system covers which is about an acre. The rest (about 5 acres) just does the best it can with nature, but is seems to grow grass/weeds enough to keep the ground from showing thru.
