How I attached hooks to bucket--photo

   / How I attached hooks to bucket--photo #21
I thank the O/P for starting this topic.
It got me re-thinking how I do what I do.
I had a 400+ mile drive yesterday, so had time to mull things over.

My most used buckets have 2 loops welded on, quite close to where the SS plate hooks up, I have a center chain hook on most of them too.
What I plan to do is to use anchor shackles in the loops and will keep a couple of lengths of chain for lifting from BOTH points.
I might put grab hooks onto anchor shackles, not sure of the EXACT details of how I will do this, but I DO want to go from single point lifting to two point lifting.

That side to side pendulum effect has always bothered me, just never enough to DO anything about it - it is time to DO something about it (-:
Side swinging a) shouldn't happen when lifting from 2 points b) if it does happen the chain on the side the load moves away from SHOULD help to restore stability.

With a plate welded on first and the hook welded to the plate and centered over each of the loader arms, I have never had a stability problem. Remember I hook a chain between the bucket hooks and then hook a small grab clevis chain in the center of that chain.
I only pick up with one chain and regularly pick up 2,000 to 3,000 lb loads of awkward equipment..
